It's just after nine PM here, which means I'm now less than 24 hours from breaking my concert drought!!!!! Yay!! And today's song, from my list of favorites that have "hill" or "mountain" in the title, is very appropriate. Here's today's song. #2: My Tennessee Mountain Home - Dolly Parton Appropriate because I'll be in Dolly's "Tennessee Mountain Home" tomorrow for the concert! This will be my second trip to Knoxville for a concert this year. The other was Richard Thompson, back in April. But that's for tomorrow. Today let's talk about this wonderful song of Dolly's, about the country life where "life is as peaceful as a baby's sigh." It details vividly the scenery so minutely you can almost smell the "honeysuckle vine (that) clings to the fence along the lane" and the song from the "songbird on the fencepost." Dolly Parton gets a lot of jokes, but let's face it: the woman can write songs. I would say, next to Cindy Walker, Dolly's probably the best female songwriter in country music. Enjoy this audio visit to her hometown. My Tennessee Mountain Home Written by Dolly Parton Recorded by Dolly Parton From My Tennessee Mountain Home, 1973 Chase the glowing fireflies:

I love Dolly Parton. She is a great songwriter and singer. Not to mention, she seems to be so down to earth when she does interviews, etc.

When the fire hit Gatlinburg last year she gave every family affected $1,000 a month for six months until their insurance kicked in or they got back on their feet .
