While we were holidaying in France, we visited Pompadour Chateau. This is now the headquarters of the Haras National, which looks after France’s equestrian interests. We had already visited one of their other sites in St Lo in Normandy. We were able to wander through the chateau and view the various rooms which were furnished as they might have been in the late 1800s/early 1900s. There were a number of carriages on display and we were free to walk through the stables and view the horses that were there. It seems they have a number of displays and exhibitions there from time to time. Across the road is a race- and steeplechase course. For the photo I’ve chosen the head of a quite ugly horse. It is an albino so has blue eyes and pink skin. Some albinos have hazel or brown eyes. There was no notice to say what breed it might have been but it is one very ugly horse. I’m sure it has other saving graces.

According to my husband horses are very picky about looks. The better a horse looks the bigger attitude he has. They know they are pretty/handsome and act accordingly. This also leads to the pretty boys picking on the other ones.
