So much for making plans

It seems that I've been nothing but a disappointment to my children. Oh, they don't tell me that I am, but at this point it has been 7 months since I've seen them in person and I just cannot seem to find a trustworthy driver to drive the uhaul truck to transport the children and our things safely to our new home. It's over a 600 mile trip. I had a coworker offer to help, but she flaked on me. She did this after I already requested time off and after I already shelled out money for the trip up to go get them. So, if I don't find someone else to cover the drive back I am out of hours at work plus the $53 I spent on my nonrefundable bus ticket. I'm so depressed and even if my kids are not disappointed me, I am definitely disappointed in myself. Excuse my pity party.

I'm sure they do, but it's been 7 months. My son will be 18 in a year and a half and here I've lost so much time.

@acrogodess I think your son is old enough to understand such circumstances. He might need to grow fast and learn the reality of life. I hope.

@Shavkat in all honesty the kids tell me they are proud: I moved, found a job, got an apartment, but I miss them and it's harder to find a driver than I thought it would be. I'm just projecting my disappointment in myself. Everything will be alright eventually

@acrogodess LIssette, I am glad they are home. I can imagine how you felt when you were away from them.

They are home already, but being away from them was hard

You have a challenge and I hope a way opens up to overcome it.

Every time we have made plans they've been ruined. I am at my wits end trying to figure things out. I will keep trying though.

I'm sorry about that. Are the children living with family?

They are with my mother and brother. They're both teens already and we wanted to move out of NYC and somewhere with a cheaper cost of living.

We've always lived in cities so it's never been a necessity and this is the first time we have moved so far. The furthest we moved from NYC last time was just 150 miles and in NY state so it was much easier to find a driver. Parking costs alone in NYC are insane.

@Courtlynn on the bright side when they do get here there is public transportation and of course uber to get to places. My daughter however has been dying to learn to drive. She wants a Dodge Charger. *sighs*

You are far from being a failure! I'm so proud of what you and your kids are doing. I really admire your dedication! I also really wish we could help. Can they take bus and you get stuff later?

The dog is too big to get on the bus. And we have too many cats still to take on the bus. Mom says any pets or things left behind will be gotten rid of

You cannot say that. So many times all of us have problems with what we need.
