I was looking relatives not too long ago in Israel and a friend of mine on facebook does or did an Jewish geneology site. She helped me find out about my father and grandparents things I did not know while growing up. I never found information on any relatives here. I did find some distant relatives not long after moved to Israel and could not speak to them at the time so when I looked again when could speak to them they were gone. How many of you learned things about your family you did not know before?

@hillhjill Hillary, thank you so much, but, it is very hard to find family here so every time I see the spelling of my grandfather's last name I ask them questions, but, have not seen the spelling in awhile. I have a feeling if there are any they are hiding.

There is a lot of things out there about my family, at least on my Moms side, as that side has been traced way far back. As to my Dads side, very little is known. Since he left my Mom when i was 4, sometimes I wish I knew more than I do, or could have had the pleasure to get to know more before he passed.

I know a bit but would like to know more, if I can ever find the time Id love to research it more. My aunt and mom have the family tree going. I know we are Native American and I don't know why but one was named Mindwell. Yes Mindwell, who would name their little Indian girl that? I also got a copy of her picture from my mom. I also know that the house we bought and are living in my great great great uncle owned and lived in. Quite the surprise to see that on the deed papers.

One of my cousins has written up the history of one side of the family so it is good to have that documented.

Judy, that is a good idea. My Aunt wrote a book on her parents and gave me some pictures of my grandfather when he was younger. I love them and can treasure them forever. I did not see the book.

That is great Robin. Were they free or paying sites? My family never talked about their life so I did not know anything and was amazed what she found out. Then when i went to look at it could not find and did not understand the sites so gave up. Now, I wish I would have stored the information somewhere where I would have had it.
