Today's rant - Stop with the Christmas movies already

United States

I can't believe it. Well, actually, I can. It starts earlier every year. Hallmark has started its Christmas season movie blitz. Please, no, not yet. I love Christmas. I love Christmas movies and Christmas cookies and Christmas presents and Santa Claus and all that warm, fuzzy stuff. But not the weekend before Halloween when I'm still being haunted by ghosts and goblins, black cats are crossing Mildred my cat's path and I'm trying to enjoy my pumpkins. Even more aggravating - I've already seen all these Christmas movies at least 37 times each. Please Hallmark, hold off until late November with the Christmas blitz and please come up with some new movies, even a new theme or two. Sorry. I feel better now I've got that off my chest. Have a great day or night, everybody. Cheers! Happy Holidays! Buon Natale! Peace on Earth. Image: Pixabay.com

I think they take the magic out of Christmas by bombarding us too early.

Exactly. Anticipation is a big part of the fun but it wears off if started too early.

I didn't notice the Christmas movies. I watch them endlessly. They are the constant backdrop to my winter!

Hallmark started several this weekend. I checked my TV guide thing in my newspaper.

It'll really get bad on Wednesday. The stores are only marginally crazy because they're also stocked up with Halloween decorations. I saw the stock boy at Wally World putting out the Christmas stuff this morning when I went to get bird seed (meaning I'm not going to be able to find bird seed for two months....).

Ugh. It's just too early. Takes a lot of the spirit way by the time Christmas really does roll around.

I agree with @jaboUK, they are spoiling the magic moment of Christmas imposing movies, songs and decorations too early.

I noticed that Hallmark is running Christmas movies already and it does seem earlier than usual

I know and I do love the movies, schmaltzy as they are! I'm just not ready for Christmas yet and do look forward to the new ones this year.

Off season here but I just noticed this post. I think that Christmas movies should be shown only in the month of December. Same with the music in the stores, it drives me crazy.

I agree! It takes the specialness out of the season when we're blitzed with it too early and too long.

Sorry Linda. Hallmark produces these movies in the summer and airs them every weekend. Some of these movies are from best-selling books from Susan Mallery (last night) and Angie Fox. Some of them have new themes and storylines about Christmas.

Sometimes I think it is the competition in selling Christmas items. Every one wants to be the first to start selling anything about Christmas.
