I Have Figured Out Why The Reduction In Earnings

I figured out why the low earnings here on Mylot. I was going through my profile to see if I missed any comments on my previous discussions and I noticed something strange. When I started here a short while ago, my comments would double when I commented on someone's comment on my discussion. Now it only shows the comments that other people leave. Example: You may count 20 comments on a discussion, however, if you remove the comments that you have left on your discussion then it will be much less. The amount on your discussion is what is shown on your main page of the discussion. I have no idea why mylot decided to do this, maybe some people were commenting too much on their own discussions. Either way I will still reply to the comments left on my discussions as it is the right thing to do. Image Credit: Pexels Free To Use

I think that you haven't grasped the way that earnings work. What YOU do earns absolutely nothing by itself. It's only when somebody else interacts in some way with your post (whether it's a discussion, a response or a comment) that you will earn anything. The number of discussions, responses or comments your profile shows has no bearing whatsoever on your earnings (except that if you have posted nothing, you cannot possibly earn anything!) The more that you reply to the responses and comments left on your discussions, the more likely it is that those people will come back and comment on your comments and will also see you as someone worth interacting with. Just to clarify: A 'discussion' is the term used to describe a post which is, strictly speaking, a topic for discussion. In terms of 'threads', it is the topmost level. A 'response' happens when somebody responds directly to a discussion. It is on the second level in thread terms. A 'comment' means anything which is posted in reply to a response or another comment. This is the third (or fourth or fifth &c.) level in the thread.

Hi @owlwings I have responded and explained to @LadyDuck what I noticed. You have been here a while and I am sure that you would have noticed this change.

Sorry, but I cannot understand exactly what you are saying. Nobody deletes comments here, only you can delete comments on your discussions or those who left the comments. Anyway our earnings are not reduced even if a discussion is deleted or comments are deleted.

Hi @LadyDuck I have taken a screenshot to show you what I mean. If you go into the discussion there are 10 comments. 5 of them are the responses of the readers, and the other 5 are the replies that I have answered to the reader's comments. I noticed when I started that it calculated all of them, which means that instead of saying 5, it would say 10. Now I only see 5 shown, which are the responses of the readers and not the responses that I answered the readers. There is another member here, @dodoazo who noticed that his earnings were not climbing, and this is the only change that I noticed since I started.

@Chantiele As you can easily read, the number indicates "Responses". That means that if 5 people left a comment you see the number 5, no matter how many comments are left "under" the first Response. You do not see the number, but it counts, because the "counter" between parenthesis at the right of your username changes for each action.

Responding to others' comments is helpful, so long as they keep the conversation going.

Hm, I admit that I am confused at how we are credited, so I just use the site like I normally would - seems to work for me. Thanks for the info though
