Many websites that pay seem to go under...

When Bubblews folded, I am sure there were a lot of people with balances in their Bubblews bank that never saw that money in their PayPal accounts. I was one of these people, though I was not that disappointed that I didn't get paid, as my balance was very small. After what happened with Bubblews, we saw Niume fall. The PPV site first discontinued its earnings program and then shut down altogether. Everyone that had earnings balances under the minimum was not paid. And then there was Wikinut, which discontinued its earnings program and also did not pay anyone with earnings less than the minimum. But the site still exists. People can still post articles there. They just won't earn anything from it. With these three sites, Triond, and maybe others, going away or no longer paying its writers, I find myself wondering about other sites that currently offer writers the opportunity to earn. If they decide to discontinue their earnings programs or shut down altogether, writers will most likely lose any money they have accumulated in the "bank" if they did not reach the minimum. And maybe that will happen even if the minimum has been reached. So, when we join these sites we are not "safe". It seems earnings programs can be discontinued at any time, even without prior notice to its writers. And it seems the sites are not obligated to pay us when that happens, or when it chooses to shut down, which isn't fair at all.

I was gone from Bubblews before it changed its policy and eventually folded up. I have always been with mylot and the only time I was gone was when I went to another country and got busy and it was also during that time that mylot stopped paying but mylot was still alive. Then it was reinstituted in 2015 with some changes.

@lovebuglena That's good to know. I never really searched for online work at all. So I think that's why I just settled with mylot and just have fun.

I wish I was a member of the old mylot. Curious to see how it was back then. I write for HubPages since 2011 I think and for me it's the best site for earning. Never had issues with them with getting paid and they are going strong. They have many vertical (niche) sites now so they are expanding themselves. I doubt they will go anywhere anytime soon. Of course you never know.

I won't waste my time at a site that doesn't pay. @freak369 was owed over $5000 due to Candy Crush posts that went viral on Bubblews. She was never paid for them.

Wow! That is a lot of money to lose. Sucks there was nothing that could have been done about it to try and get that money back.

@Daelii I was not paid once when they had a tech glitch or something like that. The site said to contact support with date of redemption, the amount, etc. and we would get paid for that. I did what they said but never saw that money.

That's crazy! I had 25 in my bank and a few missing redemptions. They said they would pay them and then they were like not paying any old redemptions. I had no idea anyone could get that high there. Do they own candy crush or was that why it wasn't paid? Can't profit off someone else's copyright content (including names, etc)???

Besides Bubblews at its prime, there is no way of earning a good amount of money online. And I think that there will never will.

@lovebuglena I have seen that many of those sites are only for people from the US. It is like surveys.

It's better to just keep on the look out for new writing sites. Then wish that it will not close before you reach the pay out.

There is a saying "if it's too good to be true, it probably is". I think the same can be applied to sites that pay. If the earnings program seems too good it probably means the site will not last.

No, it doesn't seem fair at all, but it has always been that way. Only very good people bother to pay everything that is owed when they close a site. There are no laws governing that type of thing on the internet, although I think there should be. I have been disappointed in the morals of people who run these sites and have become very cautious.

@lovebuglena I agree, it should. Most people who run the online programs are not real business people, though, and I don't trust them. The people who operate myLot seem to be the most honest I have ever come across.

@peavey It never happened to me (as no company I worked for ever closed) but I bet if a company closed down it would pay its workers all that was owed them. The same should hold true for online sites that pay.

The payment program of these sites were too good to be true. I'm not surprised that these sites closed down.

Online sites are never safe. I was the one who has lots of money in bubblews bank when it discontinued earnings. I had 3 redemptions which were not paid. After bubblews shut off I never been serious on any site except Mylot as now I don't want my hard work to go in vain.

@lovebuglena they didn't pay at first , they lowered the pay rates and then discontinued.

@sjvg1976 Are you saying that when they first came into existence they didn't let people earn? If that's the case I wasn't there when that happened.

From what I remember they never discontinued the earnings program. They just didn't pay everyone they should have paid.

That's why I won't sign up to more. Rather not waste my time going from site to site for hours, just to probably lose money on one or even all.

I lost over $100 with that site, I'd never trust them again, in a million years! It's not about the money, it's about their dishonesty, that I got hurt.

Are you referring to Bubblews? If it came back I am not sure how I'd feel about writing there again. Even though it seems the domain is coming back doesn't mean that it will be the same site though. It could be a totally different website altogether, maybe even not having anything to do with writers publishing their stuff there.

I hope this site does not go away. That is too bad the others closed. Did you ever find out why they failed?

Well, Wikinut did not close. It just stopped their earnings program. But the others sites that closed I guess it was because they either couldn't pay writers anymore or did not find the sites profitable. But who knows the real reason why they closed down. I am now on Virily. I don't post articles but I post quizzes and take them too. I hope the site will not go anywhere anytime soon. I wanna get to the $10 minimum at least once. So if they decide to go away (though I hope not) I hope it happens after I reach my $10. I hate it when I am near reaching the minimum and a site closes down.

I looked at the sites you mentioned and found that they have one thing in common: posting to make money. But I don't think it's important to have a forum where you can make money. The reason why people create "forum" such a website, so that we have a communication platform, we can make friends here, share the things in life. Even users from different countries can share their own cultures with each other here. Maybe making money is just a way for a website to get popular, so we can't post on a website just because we're making money. In China, where there is no money to be made by posting on all websites, Chinese netizens do not seem to have much interest in the sites that make money from such posts. I, for example, joined myLot just to get a better understanding of foreign culture, and I only accidentally heard of myLot. I don't care how much money I have in my account, just post, reply, reply, post again... So, relax and don't join a forum website just for money, you may not be so upset.

@jidnne I love to write, so if I come upon a website that lets people share their writings and earn from it in some way I will most likely join it. If I have a chance to earn doing something I love why not give it a try? If I site wouldn't allow writers to earn then I'd probably not join it because I already have sites I can publish on - ones that pay, and ones that don't. Also, I think that no matter what people say here, many are here because the sites lets us earn. And I believe so because a lot of posts on here deal with mylot earnings in some way... Why would people post about it if they didn't care about the earnings part of the site? I don't stress over my earnings here but I do feel a bit disappointed when I hear that there are others who are doing much better than me. Makes me wonder what I am doing wrong that I can't be as successful as them.

Really? I did not know this. But then again I don't remember what the TOS said. Maybe they did mention this as they'd have to legally I would think. If sites that pay, tell writers straight out that they may stop paying them at any time, I wonder how many people would still sign up? And now I wonder if this site mentions this...

@lovebuglena it's a cross between Bubblews and here. It's still there they just don't pay anymore. Chat about went under last year I think.
