Just finished writing a press release

I just finished writing an official press release for a conference happening this November. I no longer write press releases and articles as often as I used to. But since this was a special request, I couldn't say no. :-) What's nice is that I still know these things like the back of my hand. I wrote professionally for over 20 years. (I started really young). Writing press releases wasn't really my main job, but it was an occasional task that I'd hack for my bosses and clients. It usually just takes less than 30 minutes to write one, as long as you have all the necessary information at your fingertips. And now that I'm done with this task, I can now read more myLot discussions! Image: Pixabay

That sounds like a fun hobby! Can I ask what kind of clients you had? You don't have to give names but like was it business? Politics?

I try to stay away from politics and politicians as much as possible. This client that just I wrote for is head of an organization that provides training for professional and licensed teachers. The group is holding a conference here in the Philippines. I've had many clients in the past, mostly magazine publishers and owners of small businesses. I wrote feature articles for trade and consumer magazines for many years. Later on, I focused more on ghostwriting as it paid more and required less legwork and research. For the past 3 years, however, I've been very inactive in the writing circuit. But every now and again, friends and former clients would ask for a write-up and I'd oblige if time and circumstances permit.

What conference are you talking about? It is a private one or a government/official one?

It's organized by a professional group for both public and private school teachers.

although i don't write for a living, i agree that it's easier to write if information was provided, fleshing out the bones, so to speak. but i've always thought it's harder to be a ghostwriter, since you'll have to inhabit the persona and voice of the supposed-to-be author. i also thought you used to be a designer, offline then online.

I don't know why or how ghostwriting came easy for me. I would usually study the person's manner of speaking or the character he or she exudes. It's fun for me. I do less writing now and make art more often. It's just a renewed passion from childhood. I design canvas bags and other merchandise on the side.
