Here's that monthly review that keeps me in line with my goals.... It's my October in review! Goals - New Recipes : 6 out of 2 - I way overachieved this one. And I liked all of the new recipes that I tried so win-win! Among the recipes was steak soup (alright, but could cut down on the spices), roasted asparagus, and a lot of salads - ham pasta, chicken chow mein, jello salad and one (non- salad) that I actually made up - Mexican lasagna. No credit card use. 4 months in a row. Yay me! Goals days of 30 minutes of physical activity or 10,000 steps. - 6/12. Well I didn't do quite as well on this one, this time. *sigh* I will try to get to the gym more. Books read/listened to: 9/8. Overachieved this one. What helped was the ultra quick, but ultra interesting read of "My Friend Dahmer" a graphic novel by Derf Backderf about his days in highschool with none other than Jeffrey Dahmer. Worth mentioning: "Codetalker" by Chester Nez which was about WWII Navajo codetalkers, and "Slumdog Millionaire" - where in an impoverished Indian youth beats a hard trivia show only with his life experience and fascinating tales. I did manage to switch my closets out from summer to winter as we had our first snow on 10/30 I think. Generally: It was an odd month. It started with coming back from Sioux City Iowa with my dance troupe. Oct. 1 was our second day of performing there and I was finally getting my wind back and enjoying myself. Of course we had to leave early in order to make it back the 5 hour drive. It was fine, tiring but fine. We got back home - unpacked and I met my parents at the local Chinese buffet. They were happy to see me, though I did learn that my mom had a bad health issue while I was away. They didn't tell me because they didn't want me to worry. Nothing dangerous but concerning. She's fine now. I also made some discoveries about my dad's health. Again, nothing life threatening, but still. It was a painful month on a few levels. My mom's cousin had passed away in the end of September. Then in Oct. my dad's aunt. Then also in Oct. my mom's mom. Because her family straight up sucks - it was left up to me to tell my mom about this. So that was painful. And on the physical level I had 2 big gallbladder attacks - they lasted far longer than they usually do, which leaves me scared and considering getting it removed. Also my broken tooth started hurting badly for a spanse of a couple of weeks. "Orajel" became my pal. For fun stuff - I did get to go out several times to the pasta buffet that I love with my friend, I got to go dancing plenty, I was part of a Halloween dance performance. My friend's bonfire party, playing bar bingo, singles club Halloween party... and the trip to Redwood Falls - the beautifully scenic town - that I had been trying to make for several years happened. So Oct. had it's ups and downs, however I did manage to meet most of my goals. How was your Oct.? Do you have plans for your Nov? Here's hoping for a better, bigger, brighter November for all :-) Photo: Mine

I think you did really well. It makes my activities seem very ordinary and tame. Slumdog Millionaire is a great book, isn't it? I really enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure it is a movie too. And congrats again. I'm really impressed!

Thanks! I really like posting these. They seem to keep me on track a bit better. Oh yes, I really enjoyed "Slumdog Millionaire" - I loved how he was able to answer the questions using life experience (and the stories that went along with it) Have you seen the movie? I haven't, but I would like to.

6/2? I'm trying to come to terms with the maths of this. You've been busy. I had a holiday in October but it was a working one. We have bonfire night coming up in November, so I will be going to a party. Other than that, not much. I am saving all my energy and excitement for something special.

@FayeHazel It's not just any old bonfire, it's THE bonfire. To celebrate Guy Fawkes and the failed Gunpowder Plot. You were fine with the 6/2, I was just messing with ya. Sorry.

Valid point there. :-) Technically 8/9 of those were audiobooks, but... still counts. I think... :-)

Oh my -- from the end of May until now? I'm happy you healed up. I hope you are feeling better soon. You're right -- believing that the best will happen is half the battle, I think. I hope both of our November is great

Congrats on your October achievements! I have stopped using credit card for years now, I must say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Hope it will be a prosperous November for all of us!
