Are you near or on a flight path?

One thing about this area is that there are few commercial jets that come through here. We are not near any airports nor any flight paths. I saw a commercial jet today which is a rarity. Once in awhile there are some military jets that fly over the nuclear plant..and some private planes are in the area as some people fly to the lake on weekends..but in terms of big jets they are few and far between..Do you see jets on a regular basis?

Thankfully no, but on occasion I see private planes and helicopters. I could have sworn I heard the jet carrying my son and his wife today. Really!

@DianneN I always think it's fun on a plane to follow the little GPS map thingy on the seat back to see the path the plane is taking. It also makes you less impatient..because you really are making progress!

@snowy22315 The flight path looked as if it went over CT. I know I've recognized things leaving from New York and flying over CT on clear days before we gained too much altitude. So..... lol!

The only planes we normally see are rescue planes or helicopters and water-bombers carrying water to put our bushfires. Occasionally we'll see a jet trail high above. Oh and there used to me a man in an ultra-light thing that would buzz over. I swear he had a lawn-mower engine in it and he just sat above it in the open air.

There is an airport near me. Mostly is private planes and teaching pilots. Every so often a plane flies really low....

Yeah, this time of the year the little air strip near here isn't used much.

We often see commercial planes flying past our area but military jets are very few.

We are far from an airport and not in a flight plan, we see jets way up high but that's about it. We do see crop dusting planes though pretty cool to see them in action.

You do get used to it..My son used to live close enough to the metro to hear announcements from the train. He just tuned it out after awhile.

rarely.. but i do see planes almost every day we live kind of near to the airport in term of distance (since the road is very curvy) and planes seem very near when they pass over our house. Some of them are very noisy too

There are a few jets in my neighborhood since the airport is south of my neighborhood unlike my former neighborhood in Metairie where they was plenty of airplanes flying over Lake Ponchatrain toward Kenner.

The local airport is far enough away as to be of no concern.

Yep, I am near an airforce base and 2 airports. So we here a lot of planes, jets, bi-planes, a lot of things. My house actually shakes when a helicopter goes by if it flys just low enough.

Wow, that must be a little scary. We have had some low flying copters here at times..and I am not sure what they are doing!

@snowy22315 We are just a few miles away from the bad neighborhoods, so helicopters fly low because sometimes the bad guys run to over here.

I don't live all that far from the airport; however, they don't fly directly over my house. The only "flight path" I have to deal with on occasion is from Fort Knox.

We hear military cargo planes flying overhead to Europe from Ft.Dix/McGuire/Lakehurst but that isn't an everyday thing. I'm just happy we aren't near a commercial airport because that would make me crazy.

Yeah, if you are too close to an airport planes can shake the house..Lake Anna airport is close to here but that is just an airstrip..once in awhile you see a plane but it is not used a lot.
