Landline ringing.

1In an age of technological advancement, when iphones and cellphones offer new features in matter of months, I gave up. I went jurassic. I refuse to cope with gadgets that seemingly reduce people's sensibilities to the natural course of things as if life isn't life without removing the eyes from that tiny screen on one's hand. So, I am quite without a cellphone. My daughters check on me via landline. When the landline is ringing, I know my daughters are calling. Friends, that is why I know their friendships are questionable, because they don't dial. Hooopsie, landline ringing...... Hello!

Well that won't work on me as I'm usually out of the house and I don't stay in the office too long either. I'm always out and about and clients have to contact me via cellphone all the time. Can't risk not being able to reachable by my people and my clients.

Busy bee. My elder daughter is like that. She even talks to Siri. Remind her of her waking time, her schedule, her notes. Sigh. Siri does every thing. Sigh again. And when we go out someplace I don't know, Waze directs. Duh. I am not complaining. My world is facilitated easily.

@toniganzon Artificial intelligence, an amazing invention. I am afraid of it though. First, I do not like anything artificial. Second, where is that intelligence coming from. It talks. It responds. It shows everything. Creepy. It is not a living thing. What is it?

@eileenleyva Siri is a great help. But I still rely on my real secretary to remind me of my meetings lol! I love how I can ask Siri the title of the song playing over the radio though.

I have a mobile phone and its a must and also have a landline too. If one breaks I have the other and so on. Good that your daughters keep in touch with you by phone.

Yes. That is their own volition. Sometimes, I have already retired to my warm, comfortable bed, for my night slumber, and the phone will ring. Gosh. But they would say "Goodnight, Mommy." My heart melts. And my knees wobble. Ha Ha

@eileenleyva That is really nice. My kids are not like that on the outside but they are good just the same.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Feeling blessed for seeing the fruits of my hard labor. Ha ha. Our children reflect the kind of rearing we gave them. Just happy and grateful they became good adults.

Even at my age I'm still not into internet on the phone, I'm still old fashioned when it comes to cell phones. You never know when you need a mobile phone, specially in an emergency.

Cellphones come in handy really. We need it to record unusual events or occurrences. I do not want emergencies but we have to be prepared for such. If just for those reasons I will seriously keep a cellphone with me.

@eileenleyva Internet on cell phones is the reason why they are attracted to crooks / criminals.

I live in a "mountain" where landline is not available in every household so cellphone/smartphone is my only option.

Sierra Madre or Cordillera? I'd love to live on a mountain, too. In 2003, my family took the Dalton Pass to get to the Rice Terraces, and gosh, I fell in love with the beauty of the mountain. Told my daughters that when I am old and malfunctioning, just bring me to the mountain and I'd be all right.

Good for you for not giving into the cell phone madness. I see it everyday on my scooter. It makes me very angry when I am driving down the street and there is someone coming towards me but they are not looking up. They are too busy checking their phones. Why do I have to watch for them and take care of myself. I am not their keeper. I guess because I do not want to hit anyone, but, they have to start to show responsibility themselves.

WOW, you are a Knievel. But please, always be careful. Yes, not just for thy self but for others as well. Exactly my peeve, too. I believe and support pedestrian priority but when it comes to mindless and oblivious walkers, sigh, sometimes, I wanna yell them out of their imbecility.

@Hannihar He's motorbike's daredevil. His avatar is Evil Knievel and he performed the most daring of stunts. Take extra care, always.

@eileenleyva Thanks eileenleyva, what is a Knievel? I try to be careful. I have to watch out for everyone it seems like. Bikes just zoom by and do not let you know they are coming. They are very scary.

I like the cellphones when I play Candy Crash or TenTen. For viber usage, too. And for photographs that I need to take. For my albums. And my blogs. Long conversations. Landline.
