find a loner

If you see someone standing alone in the corner, clutching his or her drink, and looking miserable, don’t be afraid to walk up and introduce yourself. Typically, these people need a little help getting the conversation going.

Sounds like good advice, but sometimes they are there under duress and would rather be left alone.

if you start a conversation it could make them feel more relaxed and willing to connect.

@jhayzelledc On the other hand don't be surprised if they tell you to go away.

yeah, but it would be better if you make discussion about introducing yourself. Many members would love to know a new member was here.

I agree , we can smile and see the reaction whether they want to be left alone or want to communicate .

I guess I have to think twice before doing that. There is also a lot of psycho on this world. Don't dare come near someone who is a total stranger.. Because they might seem weak or trouble.... But better to take things carefully... We will never know if our safety is at risk.

I totally agree with this, specially in our country not really the best idea to just approach a stranger regardless if he looks lonely, miserable or what

Sometimes, its scary to approach to stranger specially in my country. a lot of random bad guys around the corner. a lot of guys pretending a good guy but actually not.

I would agree with this, not really the best idea specially for women to just approach a stranger

@phillyguy yeah that's why sometimes no matter how we want, our current situation is risky.

Its such a good thought.'Depression' is one of the most commonly found mental conditions around the world. And 'loneliness' can be one of the main factors contributing to depression. So its never wrong to approach a person who you feel is lonely or in need of a company.......

never wrong but dangerous and risky would you agree? I think in theory it's a good purpose but in my opinion it is really not the greatest idea to approach a stranger just because he/she look lonely

@rey123 in that case I would totally agree with you, but just in the given scenario I think she's actually pertaining to some "stranger", since she mentioned something like walk up to him and introduce yourself

@phillyguy It need not necessarily be a stranger. As you've mentioned above,it may be quite risky to approach a total stranger to lend a helping hand.He/She maybe an axe-murderer,psychopath or a serial killer like Hannibal Lecter. But you can reach out to your colleagues and accquaintances who you feel are introverted or has a real trouble in socialising. This may really help them to beat their loneliness and depression

Yes, some are a bit shy of approaching others but if we take the initiative and approach these people then we both benefit.

Following people and not visiting them to "discuss" brings nowhere. This site is all about interaction, do not stay in a corner, you do not even need to write. Go around and comment.

Welcome to myLot. Enjoy the site! The first step for all newbies is to read the Guidelines to learn what is allowed or not on the site. Then you can write a post introducing yourself. Tell us a bit about yourself. Furthermore, read around as much as you can, Like and Comment on other members' posts. Only then will members come to your site and do the same. This is called interaction. Don't expect too much money-wise. If you reach $5 a month (the payout limit), you can call yourself lucky.
This is where you will find out what kinds of behavior are accepted and unaccepted on myLot. When in doubt, remember the Golden Rule!
