Declared Winner But Not the Winner

In relation to Astha's discussion, I once was a contestant in a poem writing in high school. The title of my poem was Ang Galing Mo Pilipino (You are Excellent, Filipino). That time, I talked about the achievements of Filipinos in the international stage. Like Leah Salonga known for her Kim role in Miss Saigon. Paeng Nepomuceno, a gold medalist in bowling. Onyok Velasco, an olympic silver medalist in boxing. And many others. I was so nervous - I was contestant number 1. I had no training, just memorized the poem I wrote. Like an orator I went up the stage and pretended I was confident. I was declared the winner and received the prize. After the program, the host approached me and told me that I wasn't the winner. At least I enjoyed the fame for about an hour. At least I did my best. My classmates cheered for me. How would you feel if you were in my position?

That was awkward. And Steve Harvey will be once again remembered.

It wasn't that awkward on my end. At least it wasn't announced. The host just approached me to hand me the envelop with 50 pesos in exchange to the first prize.

How could this happen? They told you that you were the winner and then it was a mistake? I would feel cheated.

@jobelbojel At least it was not announced to the audience, it would have been embarrassing.

@jobelbojel maybe the parents of the winner who was not you, gave money as bribe to that judge? You know it was and it is still common in our country.

what, that is a bummer, so they made a mistake? Like Steve Harvey did to Miss Columbia?

It wasn't explained to me. But my classmates thought it was a cooked show.

@jobelbojel See? That was what I told you. A cooked judgement.

What a horrible thing to have happened to you! Judges vary so much in their judgement. You are a winner in my eyes!

I would be sad and annoyed at them because they put you in such an awkward situation.
