WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

What would you do if the man or woman of your dreams hated pets - including your pet. Would you show your dream lover the door and hold onto your adorable pet or give your pet to a family member or friend? Of course, keep in mind that pets usually die long before their owners - an eventuality which one should take into consideration when making a choice. What would you do? Did you ever have to make a choice between the love of your life and family or your beloved pet?

He'd be a goner @Kandae11 . Plus I would watch the interaction with him and the pet. Since animals are a great judge of character, the pet would tell me 'this guy' isn't the one.

You are right - he could pretend to like your pet in order to get you hooked - then the nightmare begins.

I have the firm belief that men who do not like pets are mean, if he does not love my animals he cannot really love a women. I would show the door.

@Kandae11 My husband has an allergy, but he loves animals. We cannot keep a pet in the house, but when Willy the cat comes to our door for food he gently pat him on the head and then go quickly wash his hands.

@Kandae11 I usually have all the facts about the guy on the first date. Just the way I am. That way I know if I want to go out with him a second time.

This is a hard one for me because I myself do not like animals much. I used to love them, I had a dog that I loved like a baby. BUT once the real babies came I had no time for them. I find them messy and dirty. And I have enough to clean up after as it is. lol Plus if they bark a lot, that is terrible for small children who need naps etc. It really pisses me off when people say "oh don't trust that person if they don't like animals" I think that is a load of BS. If you don't like animals you don't like em, plain and simple. Half these people who say this probably eat meat too, those are animals. But yeah it's a tough decision because if you view your pet like a child then I guess you would never want to part with it.

Well said. - There are many people who don't like animals around for various reasons - its not that they hate them. I would not keep a pet because I cannot bear to see people suffer - much less a dumb animal - and pets do get some of the diseases humans get . I also do not have the time to spare taking care of a pet. The easiest thing for me would be fish in a fish tank.

Choices but not because of us two rather that we had to come back here to be able to work. I had to leave a dog in England but I would not leave it with just anyone. He went off with a family he fell in love with at first sight and them with him. If he did not like a family he just walked off the other way he was a very funny dog and one heck of a heartbreak to have to leave behind.

@Kandae11 No not now as it was such a long time ago. I maintained contact with the family in case the dog did not settle and I had hopes of bringing him over here to live with me. He was a beautiful German Shepherd and it was much harder to get papers for your dog also. Nothing was ever easy in that sense.

My ex before loved my pet cats, ( 2 of them) and he also loved my pet dogs ( 4 of them). I am so sure those who hate animals are haters if life, or allergic to them or feel jealous.

@Kandae11 , I have to to be straightforward to the guy, that since he hates animals, therefore, he also hates humanity for animals are family members especially cats and dogs. I would never prefer a man who never loves pets or animals. He should vanish in my sight

My ex was married before and had a dog that saved his first wife and when he brought the dog home he really did not want anything to do with her and the same when he brought the cat home. Thank heavens I was able to raise my animals after he was gone alone and my way. It is hard if one likes animals and the other doesn't.

I would try to compromise... You take full care of your pet, if other person is bothered, don't let your pet in bedroom, but other person has to be willing to compromise too. If he loves you, he will be ready. I find that most people who never own pets, kinda dislike to keep one in the house... But both my sister and mom who visited me for a few days, and disliked pets before, now have cats, cause they figured its actually nice to have company. So give him some time. If he still doesnt like pet after awhile, and if he is truly your love I would say to find your pet nice home cause soul mate is hard to find :D

True love is very hard to find - but where there is true love, there would be compromise.
