Our first three cameras are up and running

We even had an alert last night that someone (or something) was on our porch. The light lit up and the dog heard it and started barking, but I was upstairs and didn't see what it was except a blur of something getting off the porch and headed east. I kind of think it was a cat who triggered the light that our dog heard and when it heard the dog barking, took off running. But, we don't know for sure because the DVR didn't record. Apparently, there is a discrepancy in the recording dates making it impossible to access the recording because it's gone as soon as it is recorded. She's going to work on that after work today. In the meantime, I'll be in Newark picking up my friend who is returning from Egypt. He's flying into JFK airport and taking a shuttle from there to Newark because I flat out refuse to go to JFK again. I got lost the last time and almost ended up in Manhattan - my worst nightmare! Not gonna happen again. But, we're on our way to feeling more secure in our home. Things have been so less stressful around here. It's amazing how much one toxic person can affect a family.

Wendy, what was he doing in Egypt? I hope the cameras will work good and pick up who is on your porch the next time if it happens.

He likes getting the attention going somewhere no one else would go gets him. He went to Istanbul Turkey last year right before a terrorist bombing took place. I keep telling him he's pushing his luck. I understand wanting to go. I really do. I'd love to see a lot of the ancient architecture in these places. But, in today's world, it's not as safe as it once was. It's a shame because there are so many places to see and worth seeing and studying. The few who wreak havoc make it difficult for the majority.

@Hannihar I understand that. I just wish everyone in the world would respect others and their cultures, even if they themselves don't follow them. It's just sad people try to force their ideas on to others, and that includes things taking place here in the US.

@jerzgirl Wendy, I would not go to either places because I am a Jew and really do not want to give them my money. I prefer to keep it here in Israel. It is sad that there are those that wreck it for others.

She got the time discrepancy resolved, so now the cameras are recording properly. She has five more cameras, but it's unlikely all 8 will be used.

@nanette64 We think so as well. If someone tries anything, we'll have them recorded.

We also installed this in another house since we don't often live there. Besides, I have a camera toy car at my apartment and I can use my phone to control it and see the live vision. It is also very useful

@jerzgirl Yes, I think it may depend on the webcam service. Some provides the phone control and some doesn't provide it.

@youless The camera my daughter put in the office allows phone control. We have some control where we can clip a portion of the recording to save and turn cameras on and off, but hers can also be moved by phone. The ones we have here can't. We have to manually adjust them if we want to see a different angle. Still, it's far better than knowing something is happening but not being able to prove it.

We can use our phones, too, but we can't control them from our phones. She also installed one in her office at work that she CAN control from her phone. Someone had been stealing things out of the office and she's determined to put a stop to it.

It is. I'm thrilled that she's finally had enough and is willing to fight abuse and harassment. She's too old to tell what to do. It was something she had to decide herself as I had to with her father. You can continue to try again and again, but eventually you need to realize you deserve better.
