A Weekend Away On My Own.

Tomorrow (Friday) I am going for a break completely on my own. There is a concert I want to attend on Sunday night, and it's in a town 70 miles away, but my husband wasn't keen to go. I wouldn't leave him on his own as he needs quite a lot of care (he's 87), but fortunately our daughter is staying with us at the moment.. That being the case, I decided to treat myself to a whole weekend away. I'm so looking forward to it. Would you go off on your own if you had the chance?

I always go off on my own, but that's because most places won't let Scar in.

@jaboUK We had to sneak our cat into a hotel when we moved from Colorado to Oregon. Places only like dogs no cats welcome.

@jstory07 Really - you'd think that cats would be less trouble than dogs, wouldn't you?

@MALUSE I think most people who've been married a long time would appreciate some time on their own, a time when all we need to think about is ourselves Glad you like the phunny foto, I do too.

I'm sure you'll have a great time - and be equally happy to be heading back home again. I'd have time away on my own if the chance came up.

@JudyEv Yes Judy, I'm sure I will come back refreshed and will be happy to see my husband again. I just fancy some 'me' time.

Thanks, it will be great not to have to think of anyone but myself for a while. I hope that doesn't sound selfish, but to have someone depending on me practically 24/7 can be very tiring

@jaboUK I know. My husband and I cannot travel due to my being the Power of Attorney for my elderly dad. Also, if an emergency occurs with Dad, at age 96, I do not feel right putting the burden on my sister to handle all that needs to be done all by herself. We tried to go to Florida for a month when Dad was age 94, but we had to come back 4 days later due to Dad landing in the hospital.

When I just got married the only meaning about marriage for me was doing everything together - even going to buy a pin. But thanks to my husband he taught me the value of each wanting their own space.

@allknowing It's good for each of you to have your own space, but now we are together practically 24/7 as we are both retired. In the summer I have my gardening, but in the winter I only have the time after he's gone to bed. He does go to bed early though, so then I'm on the computer until the early hours.

I did that going away on my own twice last summer. Sure not something I am used any more but felt kind of liberating, too. Have fun on your journey!

@WorDazza Hi Dazza, good to see you. I'm going to see a country singer called Raymond Froggatt, he's really good. This will be my last chance to see him as he's retiring soon (he's nearly as old as me!)

@pgntwo Ha - I'm going to something a bit more sedate than Metallica - a country singer named Raymond Froggatt. I've seen him a few times before, but he's retiring in a couple of months. He always puts on a great show.
