Kids Sick Days: How do you handle them?

All my kids are home from school today because they are not feeling well. They had low grade fevers 99 - 100. I'm debating what to watch on TV and will likely stick to some music. I don't want to do a ton of cartoons since I don't want my girls to LIKE being home from school. So normal rules on being home sick is rest and relax and they can have a cartoon or two after school is out (like, when they would normally get home from school time). So normally we just read, color, and pass the time with them relaxing and sleeping as needed. I'd read to them today, except I have no voice. So they may get a cartoon or two that is educational in the morning when they wake up. How do you handle kids sick days? How did your parents handle you being home from school if you stayed home sick as a child?

When I was sick, I was in bed for the whole day. I did the same with my kids, though I went a step further than my mother did - I checked on them often. My mother didn't check on me when I was sick. If I got out of bed, except to use the bathroom, I was told to get back in bed.

That's much like my mom! She worked so sometimes I'd be home by myself with my grandmother checking in occasionally (she lived next door). Other times though, if my grandmother was in a good mood I could hang out at her house and just play cards with her at the table with tea or coffee. But I would get to watch tv and stuff on a bed made on the couch. I had to skip doing that with my kids, since my middle daughter in kindergarten wanted to stay home from school every day, to watch cartoons, when she isn't feeling good. So its like.. darn if I do, and darn if I don't. so I made it a rule for no fun things just so if she was really sick, she'd stay home and not keep it as a fun thing to say shes ill when she's not.

@Daelii Kids can get manipulative if you let them. When I was sick, I slept a lot. My mother didn't work. She just never checked on me. I will say, I got a lot of writing done when I was sick. Yes, I've been writing since I was 8 years old and always had a notebook handy with stories in them.

Dealing with sickness of kids is very tedious job. They have less tolerance power than us.

yeah, its hard sometimes because they are not very good at times to express themself (my 16 month old talks some, but not like that!). So it feels like guess work and I hate that. I just want to know whats wrong so I'm sure to fix it !
