The Last Flower Standing

Well after a frosty Friday last week my husband decided to clear up all our plants from the containers as they're expected demise happened kind suddenly and all at once! The Begonias and the Big Hibiscus and all the Impatiens had gone to a better place the next day! ha! All of course except the hardy Dipladenia or Mandeville that had stood proud and was still growing a bit even a week before. It's vine-y tendrils are still clinging to the makeshift trellis and seemed to be holding on for dear life There was even still a few pink flowers left here and there. We couldn't help but admire the stamina of this tropical vine. I recommend it as a great container or bedding plant as it perseveres to the end. The colours are usually pinks to reds and they do love sun as well. Think about them next year when you plan your garden! And it's gorgeous! Aah Spring- you seem so very far off!

Those plants are beautiful, I love the pink and red more than the others. Winter is just around the corner. How sad!

Yes Anna-- they are really beautiful and so hardy to grow! They can get aphids on them but this only happened one year- and now I am very careful where I buy them from. Soapy water can help!

It's gotten so cold here that spring seems like an eternity away. Pretty pink flowers on your vine and it's nice to see that they aren't giving up yet

I have 2 red roses just waiting to open up, but we had some snow, so I do not know if they will.

Last year I had a gorgeous dipladenia. It was full of blooms all summer and right up to the killing frost. Maybe next summer I'll get another one.
