Spending The Day With a Chatterbox

Yesterday there was a big craft show at our local high school. My granddaughter who is in the marching band was working the fair as the marching band volunteers their services helping people set up and then break down when the fair is over. Both my daughters wanted to go to the craft fair but it's just too big and too much walking for me so I stayed home and my grandson (who is 12) decided to stay with me since "craft fairs aren't my thing" (so he says). We had a nice time together but this kid can talk. Sometimes I don't think he even takes a breath before going on to the next thing When all the girls came back from the craft fair we had a late lunch and when they left to go home I was happy for the quiet. Watched a sappy Christmas movie on Hallmark last night and that's the extent of my day.

@Kandae11 and @marlina I love craft fairs too and went to a smaller one a few weeks ago. This one is huge and walking was just too much for my bad knees. From what my daughters told me I missed out on a lot of crafty things. But. I did enjoy having my grandson to myself.

@MarymargII, Some kids never seem to have a minute of silence. Very tiresome.

Kids can be very entertaining especially a 4 yr old when you never know what they're going to say

That constant talking would be very tiresome for me too. I love quiet.

My house has always been busy and never quiet and having one grandson here is quiet compared to when all 10 of the grandkids are here at the same time

And then they say that women talk too much. I know more men who talk without stopping to breath than women.

This one is really a chatterbox but he does have interesting things to talk about and it's not about talking just to hear himself talk

Most pre-teen boys are pretty quiet (I think) but this one is like the energizer bunny. Full of energy all the time. We had a good day but my head was spinning by the time he went home.

I'm sure your grandson had a lot of wise things to discuss with you! Craft fairs are not my thing.

My grandson is very smart and was telling me all sorts of things he's learning in school. Plus everything else that's going on in his life LOL

@Marilynda1225 Smart and bright kids chatter a lot! Sure beats a quiet wimpy kid.

That was me as a kid, my Gramma used to say that I was quite the chatterbox too. It was just that I so loved being around her, maybe that's the same with your grandson.

My grandson really is a good companion for me and he only lives 5 minutes away so i see him all the time. Hopefully when he reaches his teenage years he'll still be happy to spend time with me.It's funny but my grandsons spend more time with me than my granddaughters.

Some kids just never shut up do they? But perhaps that's better than having to drag conversation out of them.

I think it would be worse if we struggled for conversation and the time he spent here was awkward. We do have a good time together and he has lots to say so I'm never bored. However, my ears do hurt a bit when he goes home

When children talk incessantly, that's because others seldom listened to them. So, when they finally find an ear to bend, it definitely gets filled to overflowing! LOL Hallmark movies are all the same, we already know what's going to happen.

Generally pre-teen boys don't talk so much or want to spend time with grandma so I'm hoping that when he gets older it won't be boring to come here. Usually he brings his muscles with him in case I need someone strong to do something around the house

It's enjoyable to be with someone who talks a lot, as long as the talk is not about other people but on nice things under the sun.

Kids.. They are just full of energy I guess. My youngest daughter is also a chatterbox. She only stops talking when she's sleeping.

I wouldn't like the constant chatter too, it's hard to relax in those circumstances.

I'm sure he kept you occupied with stories the entire time. I consider myself a good listener but with a chatterbox it can be tough to focus because they just can't stop, lol.
