Favorite "Sister" Songs #4 - "Little Sister"

With the theme of this particular music series being songs with "sister" in the title, you might be thinking that I am paying homage to my own sisters. Nothing could be further from the truth. But I do know a lot of "sister" songs, and we are at #4 in the countdown: "Little Sister" by Siouxsie and the Banshees. "Little Sister" is the fifth track on the Banshees' 1991 album, Superstition, which is best known for spawning the band's first Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, "Kiss them for Me," and is Siouxsie's biggest selling album in the US. "Little Sister" was not released as a single, and doesn't even warrant a mention on the album's Wikipedia page. Which is too bad. Written by bassist Steven Severin, "Little Sister" is absolutely gorgeous, and about as far from the Banshees' punk roots as can be. I can't imagine that Siouxsie and Severin, who were the band's only constant members, ever envisioned that the band would morph from their harsh, abrasive beginnings into a slick, polished unit, let alone create something as pretty as "Little Sister." The link is to the album version. Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

I've seen them twice. Once in Mannheim, Germany, and once at what is now the Fillmore on Colfax.

Yeah, that's not "Cities in Dust." I think when bands known for a completely different sound pull a 180 and turn out a quiet gem it makes the song even better.

It definitely does. Tool once did a very mellow song called "Disposition." You could tell it was them, yet it sounded like nothing else by them. That's about the only thing I can think of right now.
