L - is for lakes , state motto "The Land of 10,000 Lakes"
M - Mall of America - USA's largest mall

@FayeHazel This has always been under cultivation to orchards and vegetable gardens. We bred stock horses on our farm when I was growing up. When our sons left home and we had a bit more time and money we ended up with a pair of carriage ponies.

@JudyEv Those are beautiful horses. Amazing that you had them / bred them. As a kid I always wanted a horse, as an adult I realize how much time and effort it must be, esp. to keep them as lovely as the pair in your photo

Red roan is so pretty. Do you still have horses/ponies?
That is so cool about orchards. Here it has become a thing - people are starting to get real into the different varities

Lori answered it well. In addition: there are many different styles to pick from - a popular choice is to go with the school colors for the color of the stone, or another popular choice was to go with your birthstone color. Me? I did my favorite color (my reasoning was that I already had a birthstone and preferred my favorite color) .

There was one on colors that I liked - didn't know there were so many colors that I wasn't familiar with...

Ah yes - that's sort of what I was thinking about doing - I was going to do 1 post per letter, and then I decided this would be more fun :-)

@FayeHazel So much Gothic architecture in St. Paul and Mpls. A few years ago I realized that my interest in architecture probably started from what I took for granted as I grew up.

@bluesa It makes me wonder why they got named that, but fun sounding for sure. I know there's a town called Regal here too - named for the car the mayor had
