I know, I know. Scott Ganschow used this song a couple days ago in his “Sisters” countdown. Great minds think alike lol. Enjoy it once, enjoy it again. Can you imagine a better singing duo than Annie Lennox and Aretha Franklin backed by a gospel choir? “There was a time when they used to say that behind every great man there had to be a great woman In these times of change you know that’s no longer true So we’re comin’ out of the kitchen” The Queen of Soul meets new wave’s greatest diva resulting in the feminist anthem “Sisters are Doin’ it for Themselves.” The rousing song is a powerful message of women “standin’ on their own two feet and ringin’ their own bells.” Charting at US #18 and UK #9, the song appears on the “Be Yourself Tonight” album and Aretha’s “Who’s Zoomin’ Who?””Sisters are Doin’ it for Themselves” has been covered by Lucy Lawless as “Xena, Warrior Princess” and shudder. the Spice Girls.
Live In Sidney, Australia - Revenge Tour 1987.

They totally rocked this when I saw them at Red Rocks in the 80's.
