Pre Thanksgiving Dinner

Happy Saturday everyone! I spent the day at my sons house for a pre Thanksgiving dinner. Since they alternate years between our family and my daughter in laws family this year they will spend it with the in laws. My daughter in law invited us to their house today so we could do a little pre celebrating and she made a wonderful dinner. She baked a small ham, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, green beans and a salad. It was delicious and I was happy that she didn't do turkey since we'll be having that at my daughters on Thursday. It was nice to visit with my son and his family and although the weather didn't cooperate and the trip was rainy we had a nice time. Now I'm home, happy and full. Hope you enjoyed your Saturday

We usually like to bake ham, for Christmas dinner. Turkey, we save for Thanksgiving Day!

We usually do ham for Christmas too but I was glad my daughter in law made a small ham for our pre Thanksgiving. It was nice to just visit and relax

I love non traditional dinners like that. We have such picky eaters in my family that we all kind of make things our kids will eat. Last year I made macaroni and cheese, my mom made turkey, my sister made hot dogs lol one year I brought pizza. I had to laugh when the counselor asked my son what his favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving is and he said hot dogs.

a non traditional Thanksgiving sounds perfect. It's the time together that counts more than the food. Hot dogs would work for me too

None of my sons are married but perhaps in the future. Thanksgiving comes so quickly and we should all be so thankful.

Sounds like a wonderful dinner. So, now you have had a dress rehearsal (at being full and happy) for Thanksgiving

That sounds like a wonderful day to spend-no place better then to be with our family members.

It turned out to be a wonderful day and even though the family will be split this Thanksgiving we'll all be together for Christmas. I don't get to visit my sons place often so it was a nice change of pace

I'm glad you got to spend time with your family before Thanksgiving. That's a nice idea, to have a pre-Thanksgiving dinner before the holiday for the family they won't be able to spend the actual holiday with that year.

That's nice that you didn't miss out altogether on celebrating with your son and his wife. And extra lucky to have a ham rather than turkey.
