Avoiding the sun

sunblock, sunscreen, skin, harmful, sun rays

Do you use them? Sunblocks or sunscreens? They say its important to use one regularly to protect against the harmful damage of sun's rays to our skin. I am guilty of not using one regularly. But I rarely go out of the house without an umbrella, so I guess it counts as protection right? Well, I hope so... Photo from Google Image Search

I do, most of the time. But not everytime. I actually read that some people tend to overuse sunscreen to the extent thay they don't get adequate vitamin D from sunlight.

Sunshine is also needed by the body to produce vitamin D, morning sunshine that is - best would be 6:00 am - 8:00 am. Other time than that is already harmful.

@allen0187 Yeah, I never get to the habit to always wear one. I'm so inconsistent.

That's good. I have a sunblock but often times forget to apply it when going out.

It's the ultraviolet rays of the sun that can be harmful. The morning sun is ok. I notice that when I go out in the sun in the morning, the sunshine feels good. But at around 10 am and later, the sun becomes uncomfortably hot already. (At least here in the tropics. I don't know what it must be like in other parts of the world.) That's the time our skin can get burned. So as much as possible, don't stay in the sun at those times. If you have to go out in the sun, you can use umbrellas, or make sure your clothes cover your skin, but it is better if we use things with SPF (sun protection factor). For the face, most of the creams and make-up I encounter have SPF, so that's good. As for the body, most lotions I encounter don't have SPF. If the lotion I'm using at the time has SPF, that's good. But if it doesn't, I usually use a separate SPF spray at the same time.

Yes, that's true. Morning sunshine is the only healthy sunshine our body needs for vitamin D other time than that, rays are already harmful.

Is there a special reason why you don't mention your country on your account page? One could understand your post better if one had this info.

How l understand it, too much exposure to the sun could be a problem for those with very fair complexions. I am not one of those, l live in the Caribbean and l make good use of the sun as it is the main source of Vitamin D.for me.

Its true people with fair complexions are more prone to sun damage and morning sunshine is healthy sunshine as its a natural source of vitamin D.
