I got another malware redirect from myLot, this has to stop.

A ransomware again (I already got one last month). Alright, it happens only about once a month on a laptop, but it is killing this community. I have never complained about myLot, but we have to stop this. This time it made me angry, and I have decided to identify the responsible. I have now parameterized a paranoid firewall for myLot for this hunt : everything coming from myLot has to be authorized. Soon or later I will know who is the guilty advertiser. It can take a month more, but I am very very patient. When I will find it, I will tell you what IP to block to enjoy fully this site.

Another one joins the battle! I identified www3. MyLot. Com as one site to add to your block list. You can see the sequence of pages opened in this screenshot of my history, reading from the bottom of the shot upwards to the top. I have switched to Ghostery browser on my phone, no pop-ups so far.

@JolietJake Even if it only does a redirection, it cannot be anything else than a subdomain owned by myLot.

@pgntwo It is an Amazon cloud server. Makes me think at an alternative address used by myLot, ,mylot.elasticbeanstalk.com.

We have had that problem but it was coming from a Traffic Exchange and other so I gave all of them up and that did help. Hope it does not happen here though.

@topffer It was not them no it was another one I was in and I knew it was them all the time so I dropped them. I miss Easyhits4u as I made a bit of cash every now and then. Very sad story about all that now.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I think EH4U still exists. I also left it a few years ago, it was too time consuming for what I was earning with it.

I have only used EasyHits4U. Surfing on Linux, I do not care a lot about Windows malware, but these ransomware are annoying, as they play with scripts. I hope I will identify who sends to them.

When I heard people complaining about malware I thought it must be targeting US users only. But this is the first time that I see a complaint from a member outside US. I’m glad it didn’t get to my device but I do hope that it will be solved soon.

This is ongoing issue. It seemed to just affect phones but this is the first instance I have heard on a laptop.

It's happened to me a few times, but not lately. Crossing fingers. It's completely annoying to say the least. Ohhh, I better learn how to block an IP .

Blocking an IP is not difficult, you have just to put it in your hosts file. Finding what IP to block is the problem here.

Good thing, I don't experience it in my laptop at the office. Though, it seem to pop up one time when I was using my iPad at home.

I haven't had any of these issues on this site. However, I know a few people now who aren't coming back because of this. Happy hunting and hope you can find out where this is coming from.

It does not happen often, but several members have left because of that. I am following a track, but it is too early to tell if it is the good one.

@topffer Yes, I did read a few members jumped ship because of all the malware and redirects coming from this site. I have never had an issue like this before ao far so good. But if I do, I'll do as you are doing on my comptuer. Onl6y way to trap them and find out who is behind t his mess.

@topffer Do let us know please! The only time I got trouble with a virus which froze my laptop was about a decade ago. A PC game from the old demonoid website caused that. I reported that naughty uploader right at once.
