This recently happened with one my friends. He went into a famous bakery shop in our city in a crowded market. When he came out, he noticed a gang of children running towards him for food/money. He unzipped his bag and found an apple and a packet of Chips, he gave all that to one of the members and asked them to share it with the rest of the group. When he started walking away from that place. Two of the boys who were senior among that group came running to him and suddenly grabbed him by his collar. He was stunned. They blamed him that the food given by him had poison and now one of their group member is dying. My friend had no clue what precisely happened. He went back to see that boy and he saw that the little guy he gave chips, suddenly started frothing at the mouth and collapsed. My friend was dumb struck and was puzzled. They threatened him to give money for his treatment or else they would call the police. The public gathered there, he went motionless with fear. He gave them some money and left the scene. Later, he came to know that it was all set up and he was duped.

Oh - that is terrible ! It's not cool to hear these stories of people taking advantage of a person's generosity - oh and these were kids . It was a calculated scheme that worked. Even sadder, they are ruining it for those who are truly in need . . . because now people won't be willing to help as they suspect they may be duped. I feel so sorry for your friend!

Yes, it was shocking the way my friend was duped. It was a calculated trap to which my friend fell for. It is sad because this way no one will come forward to help genuine people

@dpk262006 How did he find out about it? Were there other similar cases like his? Did they ever catch these "kids"?
