Baby Shower Was a Success!

The attendance was down at the shower. Many of the guests couldn't make it because of illness. Others just didn't show up. That was a bit disappointing. However, with those that showed up, we had a very good time together. We played a few games that tested one's knowledge of children's books and the children's names of television shows. The looks on their faces and comments were great. I admitted that it would have been a challenge to me as well. I also had each guest cut a string of yarn that they would believe to go around the expectant mom's belly. Two people came close, one was spot on! Each of the winners got a prize. I also had to nice vases that were filled with Hershey Kisses. The guest had to guess how many pieces of candy were in each vase. The cupcakes were a hit, although not many were consumed at the party. The leftovers were sent home with the guests. I was able to bring a dozen of the mini cupcakes home. Hubby was happy to devour those. Also had enough leftover chicken curry for hubby's dinner as well. Nobody balked over the fact that the gifts weren't opened at the shower. I discussed it with my sister-in-law at how it made the mother-to-be feel a little uncomfortable with having all eyes on her. And also I know how hard it is when you receive a gift that isn't to your liking and you have to put on a fake smile. The food was good, the company better. The room that my son had secured to hold the party in was a bit on the cooler side. He did say that we were at an ice rink. They did supply space heaters, but even so, we had to wear our coats to keep warm. Hopefully the next event we hold will be in warmer weather. We are already looking to the summer months so we can have a housewarming party for my son and his wife. Nothing better than planning ahead. Do you ever plan far into the future for an event?

Aww sounds like it was a hit! We play some of those games too at our showers. Glad it went so well. About the only event I plan for is Christmas.

The games are a fun way to break the ice. Some don't want to play, but with a little encouragement they always do.

I sent my son a message yesterday asking if they opened the gifts yet. They hadn't done so. That took me by surprise. Hoping they do it soon and take pictures so I can see what they got!

I am glad the Shower was a success. The last Baby Shower I threw was years ago. I try not to plan too far ahead. Never know what is going to happen.

Large events such as family reunions or housewarmings I will plan ahead. That way you get get people to save the date on their calendar.

Sounds like everything worked out well. Yes, I do plan ahead though we rarely have events anywhere but in one of the family homes.

Sounds like everyone had fun at the baby shower. I really like the yarn game idea, by the way! I'm not the best event planner but I do like to plan events in advance.

Better to plan than to be sorry about something going wrong.

Sometimes. I'm glad it was a huge success. Love your game ideas. I'm glad your husband was able to reap the reward of some dinner left over from the party.

The shower sounds like a great time! Those cupcakes would have been my favorite part of attending This time of year there are so many sicknesses going around.

I am hoping that none of us comes down with the stomach bug. Not a fun thing to get any time of year.

Glad the shower was a success. I don't usually plan far into the future for an event, unless it's something that will require me saving up a lot of money for it.

When planning for a future event we start saving money in case there is travel involved. Or costly items to secure such as entertainment or paying for a hall.
