Two Lovely China Dolls I Purchased

About five years ago, I was looking at various items in a second-hand store. They had a selection of about ten, beautiful china dolls that really caught my attention. I've always loved dolls and had a collection of my own for many years. I finally decided to purchase two of these dolls, with the intention of giving one of them to our ten year old grand-daughter, Kaitlyn. I decided to let her pick which one she liked best, to display on top of her bed. Kaitlyn was very pleased and she selected the one with its hair in long, dark-brown, ringlet curls. Actually, that was my favorite doll also, but I gladly presented it to my grand-daughter. A couple weeks later, we were visiting at Kaitlyn's home. The china doll had been undressed, one of the shoes was missing, and it's hair had been washed, combed, and cut. It's needless to say, this doll looked a mess! Then, Kaiti announced to me that she'd changed her mind. Instead of the dark haired china doll, she decided that she wanted the one with blonde hair instead! I very politely told her 'nope', a bargain is a bargain. Grandma wanted to keep things exactly how they'd been done, no turning back! Photo: taken by Kharla Jolly

@Corbin5 Thanks:) Every Barbie doll she ever received, ended up looking the exact same way! With makeup smeared on her face and nail polish smeared on all the toe and finger nails. Then, she'd throw it in a pile of toys somewhere.
i like dolls. i made a costume of a doll when i was in my senior high school year. it was Rwanda, and i was one of the most creative 'dressmakers'. we had the activity of making the national costume of each country that are members of the United nations.
@kobesbuddy yes it did. in fact, my doll was one of the top 'models'. i made a pearl (bead) necklace, a turban, and white blouse and a simple skirt. actually, i did not know the national costume of Rwanda but i made it out of imagination and initiative.
After seeing that I would not give her another beautiful present like the one in the picture. She is beautful. I can see why you bought them. I am sorry what happened to the one you gave your granddaughter. I had an uncle that worked for the govt and my aunt used to collect dolls from all their travels.
