How Do You React With Compliments?

Every weekly meeting, our boss in our department always compliments my work. I always smile and laugh and somewhat believed him. Is he being sarcastic or I'll just continue what I am doing and be grateful?

I had developed the ability to detect, discern and differentiate between flattery, sincere praise and compliment and sarcasm hope you do the same.

I always hated flatterers, but all flatterers are not easy to detect at first.

@gibocam you can learn to discern and at the same time continue positive inclination and self improvement in negativity, I don't think there's a conflict there. Bosses had been trained and or seminared to praise and compliment those under them in order to motivate, it's just natural practice and habit for them.

I doubt I can do that. I'm a person who always accept both positive to incline myself and negative to improve myself.

Thanks @prashu. Now it made clear that it is my boss's responsibility to compliment his employees. I must always be grateful.

I do not think he would often compliment you if it was sarcasm.

@gibocam But as a boss you would also need to have a bit of hypocrisy, and to remember to compliment often your employees. But I think it is all good for you.

@topffer I think so. Maybe I can ask him to treat me a pizza? That will help me work better. Just kidding.

Yes, you're right. As a boss, I will not risk my relationship to my employee and to break that trust just by being sarcastic.
