When a Leaf Becomes a Star

While it wouldn't be a stretch to say that some leaves are shaped roughly like stars, I am using the word "star" here in a different way. On my way home from my daughter's house earlier today, I stopped at a small very scenic spot along what is known here as the Little Ossipee River. While wide in some places along its course, in others, like this spot, the river narrows to not much more than a stream. And it was there I stopped to take a few photos. I was mesmerized at first by how the tall bare trees that lean over the water are reflected in it and how the light at that time of day only added to the drama. As I turned to go, I took one last look at the water and noticed a single oak leaf floating along on the gentle current. Once again, no words are necessary other than to say that this leaf was the "star" of that show. Photo Copyright@2017 Rachel Lovejoy

If the leaf could talk to you it might thank you for stopping to appreciate its beauty and making it a star.

Oh, it did. Simply by its presence and by allowing me to photograph it.

What a great image you've caught! I didn't realise it was a reflection at first. Vince is going to be very impressed when I show him.

I don't rake at all anymore. Don't have to here.
