Today is My Father's Birthday

My father died in 1984. He never got to see me graduate from college and go on to quite an interesting career. Not that he wasn't proud of me right where I was in those days, he was. He loved to tell people about my job as head of a computer department.
He was born in 1905 into a world very different from the one I grew up in. He was very close to his grandparents and actually lived with them for many years. They lived next door to his parents so it wasn't because they couldn't care for him, he just loved the grandparents. I used to ask him questions all the time, I only wish I had asked more.
He was 44 when I was born and he was not the world's best father but he was the best father I had ( actually the only one lol) and I loved him. So Happy Birthday Poppy.

That is a really beautifully written story about your Dad
Those times were so diffrent in a way and I am glad that he loved his Grandparents so much too.
He is always in your heart.

Yes, I remember those tapes, I was the Tape librarian in 1974 for a company I worked for at the time @BelleStarr they were backups in case something happened to the IBM 365.

@rebelann Yup will that was one thing I had to do before I left at night, back up the infor from that days work. About an hour before work ended we had to stop working and each machine had to save the work that had been done on it so I could back up the mainframe. It was very unproductive.

lol it was 1980, I have no clue what kind of computers they were, I am sure I knew at the time but I only did that part of the job for about a year. I used to do the backup on big rolls of tape and nothing backed up automatically. Nothing like it is today for sure.

My fathers B`day was Nov. 15th. and my moms was Nov. 18th. Both of mine are gone also.

Happy birthday to him. It is great to reflect on them. I can say the same thing with my dad, that he isn't the world's best but he is still my dad and I'm happy I still have him.
