New Windshield Wipers, Finally!

I have been needing new windshield wipers for several months now. So, finally, my son is installing them right now. I was really having a difficult time seeing to drive at night when it was raining, especially. For one thing, the inside of my windshield was all foggy and my great grandson made an effort to clean it for me, but instead made a big streaky mess of it. So, my daughter-in-law found this cleaner for windshields and cleaned my windshield and it was sparking clean and clear…BUT, my wipers still needed replaced. I don’t drive that much at night, but I kept reminding my son that the wipers needed replaced. He bought them two weeks ago, but kept forgetting to install them. He has had a lot going on lately. His father-in-law has not been doing well, so he moved a ramp that had been donated to their house. That was quite a project. But now, he can use his wheelchair to get in and out of the house. Then my son went to North Carolina to pick up an automatic chair for his father-in-law and got that installed for him. So, he has been very busy doing all these extra things here lately. So, today, he has the day off and so he’s going to install the wipers. In fact, I think he’s already finished with that. Yay!!! He also said he was going to put new numbers on our mailbox pole today, because a few packages have not been delivered recently. The old numbers needed replaced. There are so many things to do all the time. It’s a good thing he’s handy with things like that. You wouldn’t believe some of the things that he has been able to build and repair over the years. His father taught him a lot of things and he is thankful to have been able to learn things on his own too. Do you have a “handy-man” that can take care of things for you? Or are YOU a “handy-man” yourself? God bless all of them!!!

I was lucky lately, making friends with a couple who came from my old province. The husband is very good with doing this and that, and I have been paying him to help me out with various jobs.

It's nice to have someone to help out when we need it. The older I get the more I need help, but I do TRY to take care of what I can.

@YrNemo Yes, my "working in my flower beds" days are over. I could struggle and try to do it, but I've decided that its just one more thing on my "never do again" list. A lot of things that I used to do with ease is now on that list unfortunately. But, I still have lots that I can do, so I keep myself busy with those things. And I listen to a lot of great music.

@IreneVincent That is one of some disadvantages of aging. We become wiser, but our body weaker! (I can't even pull up certain weeds these days!)

I think we're both pretty handy Certainly Vince is and I know what needs to be done and how to do it although mostly it is Vince who does the actual tasks.

I do try to take care of most things but there are just some things that I can't do anymore.

@JudyEv Getting old is no fun. I'm 76 years old now and have several health issues that I'm dealing with. But, I know that I am not as bad health wise as some others who are as old as I am or even younger than I am. My brain is still telling me that I'm 35 years old, but my body is saying otherwise.

@IreneVincent I can understand that. I would need help now with quite a few things if Vince wasn't around.

My dad help if he is in town and I need him but I don't like bothering him. I bought wipers and they were really hard for me to put on and don't clean the windows well. Next time I will buy the next higher costing one and see if they perform better.

That was the other thing. I didn't know what kind to buy, so I left it up to him to get what he thought would be the best for my car.

Like yours, my handyman is busy and needs me to threaten to pay someone to do the job before he gets around to doing it. Good you have those wipers fixed, worn wipers can definitely prove dangerous.

My son stays so busy anymore, with so much going on with his father-in-law and on his job and trying to help me out too.

Not a handy "man" and have none here. Autozone puts them on free for us

Yes, Auto Zone would have done it free if he had purchased the wipers there. However, he tries to support a friend of his and purchases all his auto parts from his golfing buddy. Which then means that he has to put them on himself.
