How do you feel if you do not want your animal to do something bad to someone else and they say it is ok?

I try to keep my cat from biting anyone else. Some say it is ok, but, I do not like it and it is not ok with me. I want to try and teach her that she cannot bike anyone. This does not just apply to animals. People like to teach their kids manners and one time someone told one of her kids that is very young to say hi to me and they didn't and I said it was ok. I felt like a hypocrit because I try to teach my cat manners and if I do not like someone else saying it is ok if she does something wrong I do not agree with and they say it ok then when someone wants to teach their child manner and I undermine them then I am no better than the one saying it is ok. I need to let parents parent their kids and owners teach their animals and not say it is ok.

The only time I've ever had a cat bite is when they are kittens, they always play like that but after a while they learn that they should not bite and all of mine stopped biting when they got older.

rebelann, so you raised them from kittens. My Sophie came to me after she was 3 months old so do not know anything about her life in the other home she lived in.

Of course it's never ok for your cat to bite anyone. Have you ever heard of Jackson Galaxy? Watch his videos on youtube, especially the old ones on how to deal with cats that bite others.

Toni, I know you want to help, but, my Sophie never learned manners so I try to teach her myself not to bite. If it is just me she bites that is ok. I do not like it but I care about her so try to catch her before she wants to do it.

@Hannihar Yeah that's why I suggest you watch Jackson Galaxy. Through his video you would learn a lot why Sophie is behaving like that and you'll know how to correct that. That's what I meant by suggesting you watch Jackson Galaxy.

@toniganzon Thank you Toni. I understand why Sophie bites. It is very obvious. She was left to die at 2 days old and did not have anyone to teach her how to behave. I had someone come to my home once and try and help but it did not work. I have to do this my own way.

Children and animals do need to be taught manners, so persevere.

I actually followed what you said, and I agree. It's not always okay, and we shouldn't say it is or undermine another's authority.

I think you are right but of course, regarding the child, you're really just trying to make the parent feel less embarrassed/cross whatever so I'm not so sure you are undermining them.
