I wish I could be a Doctor.

This discussion has its genesis from my previous discussion regarding fear of seeing blood. When we see an injured person or we find that some of our near and dear one has fallen seriously ill, we wish in our heart of hearts that we should have been a medical professional or a Doctor. We know that all of us just cannot become a Doctor or a para-medical staff, due to one reason or the other. When you come across some medical emergency, does a thought crosses your mind that you should have been in medical profession or should have been a Doctor? Image courtesy - Google

I've never wanted to be a doctor or a nurse although the sight of blood doesn't bother me.

@JudyEv - You did not want to be a Doctor and you do not feel seeing flowing blood. What did you want to be in your life?

@JudyEv You've written exactly the same I wanted to write. I don't understand why the member writes about "**our** fear of seeing blood."

@hereandthere You won't like to become a doctor but you would like to get training of medical first aid, so that you could help yourself and others in case of accidents. It is a good thought.

@dpk262006 If I want to be a doctor, I think I will overcome to see the blood. After all, doctors will try to save people and therefore they shall not be afraid of the blood and wounds so much.

Not a doctor but a pilot of domestic airplane. It's because I'm afraid of heights and want to overcome that. And like you said, for some reason, tuition is very bit high.

Oh I guess you got this idea from my responds on your previous discussion. I usually encounters accident or incidents infront of me or near where I stand which got me into thinking of being a doctor someday but of course not all professions are for everybody and I have no regret on what I have now I may not be the doctor I used to dream of being one but I got a much better and relaxing life

Yes, I got the idea of this discussion from your response. I am sorry to hear that it happens many times that you come across accidents and when you see any accident a thought travels in your mind that you should have been a Doctor. In fact you have stated that you had a dream to become a Doctor but it was not in your fate and you are happy in your life.

There is at least one person here at mylot that is a doctor but I cannot think who right now. It is a job I would not be smart enough to do or have the stomach for.

I am not aware that we have a member among us who is a Doctor. If you could find out, please let me know. You won't like to be a Doctor because you feel that you do not have stomach for such a tedious job.

Not at all because I know I'm not a good doctor and I'm afraid of blood and needles. So even if there's an emergency, I'd rather call someone who could help.

So you are afraid of blood, syringes and needles and you cannot stand to them. It is wiser on your part to take help of a trained medical profession or someone else, in case of an emergency.

NO, I have never wanted to be a doctor, is not a profession for me, my brother is a doctor, but last Saturday when we had the emergency of my mother, he called the ambulance, because a doctor alone not always can handle emergencies.

Good to know that your Brother is a Doctor, however, you did not have any ambition of becoming a Doctor. Yes, it is correct that sometimes Doctors also need help of others. It is also said that ''a doctor cannot treat himself''. PS - How is your mother now?

@LadyDuck It is nice that your brother treats himself in normal ailments. It is good to hear that your mother is stable and is out of coma. Let us hope her condition improve in the coming days.

@dpk262006 Most of the time my brother treats himself, not in case of surgery of course. My mother is now in a stable condition, out of coma, but no further improvement.
