Recognising the truth from the false. Does the counterfeit truth always resemble the real truth?

The way of truth is a straight road through love. Falseness leaves this road and is never loving

"Only God can tell the saintly from the suburban, Counterfeit values always resemble the true." This above quote is from W.H. Auden (1907 - 1973), an English born poet. If this was really true, what hope have we got? Surely our hearts can sense the real truth from the false, can't they? The truth shines forth from the love it comes from. This is the test. Counterfeit truth never shines with this real love. You can always feel the cold in its breeze of deceit. What do you think? How can we see the truth from the false?

Oh, the media and the government have similar thing when it comes to counter fit truth. I think over here it's popularly known as fake news.

Yes, and even if a grain of truth is in there sometimes, it is usually distorted or blown out of proportion, or mixed with untruths to give a misleading story, or exaggeratedly false interpretation to the real story.

There are counterfeit currency notes in the market and it is so difficult for a common person like me to find the difference.

Yes, here too the counterfeit is often a very close resemblance to the real. The swindler often sounds plausibly truthful, and it can seem that he is trying to help us, when really he is trying to cheat us.

Sometimes it is hard to know the truth from the false things around you.

Yes, sometimes we do not see that the road that we are on is the wrong one for us to be on, or taking. We cannot even see the truth of ourselves, yet alone the truth in the greater World out there. We need to grow in discernment, and wisdom to be able to separate the sheep from the goats, as the Christian bible so aptly puts it.

Pretenders are tough to unmask and they have held sway from time immemorial. Some borrow without any intention of repaying though they manage to convince that their word is their bond. Then political leaders in some countries make promises which cannot be delivered and they know it. Yet they hoodwink the public time and time again. Agreed, the majority cannot and will not fake the truth and they speak from their heart. It matters what the intention is as untruth is anathema to ordinary folks as it leads to misery sooner than later. Still few revel in it and also in hypocrisy. Real love is far removed when untruth is passed on as the real deal with zilch conscience - siva

@Shiva49 I also am of the age where people around me still think that you are a nutter to seek help for psychological problems. The kids cannot talk with their parents I guess. I think that there should be counsellors available for free at every school so that kids with problems can talk things over, and not be afraid to do so.

@innertalks Yes Steve, the stigma attached to seeking help is a real issue. There is no real listening ear but only those out to humiliate. Though I have no issues now, when I was young I lacked confidence. There were only two streams that were coveted - medicine and engineering. I was not interested in either and I felt quite disoriented - siva

@innertalks Some cannot take the stress of daily life or are sort of thin skinned to take the reverses that none can escape. It is tough to change the way they are but if such issues are addressed when we are younger it could help. When I was young I tended to keep things bottled up but over time I opened up. If adults are more alert to some of the young struggling to cope with the reality of life, it helps a lot. But then it also happens some just bully those who look for help adding fuel to the fire - siva
