Thanksgiving Day was a real winner

Hi everyone, Happy Thanksgiving Day for all my fellow Americans out there. I hope that all of you had a wonderful day, I know we did.
We went to my son Steve's house. He made the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. I made roasted vegetables, creamed onions, baked sweet potatoes, whipped cream and a pumpkin pie. My daughter brought salad and quinoa, and two pies. My son's mother-in-law brought mashed turnip and squash and a pumpkin trifle. My other son was told to just show up with his wife and that is what he did lol.
We didn't have all our grandkids here, 4 were missing and we especially missed our great-grandson Daniel but his mom got married this summer and he was with his mom and dad at his dad's family.
After lunch, we sat around and chatted for several hours. This year we are not going away this weekend, our daughter will have the cottage all to herself. I want to get some work done at home and get the house decorated and the Christmas cards written.
Now I am falling asleep watching the latest Hallmark movie. I hope everyone had a great day, we sure did.

Yes there was a lot of food but no one over ate and there was plenty of healthy choices.

They are a recipe of my mom's. Small white onions boiled and then placed in a bechamel sauce, quite delicious.

The food really was exceptionally good, I didn't overeat however in spite of the temptation.

It was a very good one. I love family get-togethers where everyone gets along and the kids have a good time.

I do prime rib on Christmas so Thanksgiving is the only time of year when we eat turkey.

@BelleStarr of course I want to return to my homeland but I have a house and furnishings to sell first. Then I don't know my destination in the states. I am from NYC but no one is waiting for me there and things are expensive. I can go anywhere but I will have to have a place to live and find a job. Won't be easy but I am returning.

I like Christmas the best but Thanksgiving is second. New Years is way down the line.

You use small white onions, I use fresh but you can buy them frozen and then make a basic bechamel sauce and combine the two. They are quite delicious.
