zumba, yoga or barre3

i've been receiving old and new workout gear from family - sneakers, quick-drying or moisture-wicking shirts, gym shorts. i finally saw zumba classes advertised (offline and online) in two places near each other, and just one short ride away. i've also heard and read about yoga helping with back pain. now my friend is suggesting we check out barre3 classes - a combination of ballet barre, pilates and yoga developed by Sadie Lincoln in Portland, Oregon, USA. i'm not a graceful nor flexible person. i'm not sporty and have never been in a gym. i don't even have quick reflexes. but i'm curious to see what each session is like to have an idea, which one i can handle. have you, your family or friends ever done zumba, yoga or barre3? what was it like? have you ever had an embarrassing experience because you weren't graceful or flexible enough?

Here in Switzerland (same in Italy), before you can join zumba, gym classes and so on, you MUST see a doctors who specify what you can do and what is not appropriate for you. There is a reason for this, so be sure not to do the wrong movements.

@aureliah This is the main reason, but also that you avoid some dances that can damages your knees. My cousin damaged her right knee with zumba.

I would think the reason is to ensure that you are fit to make some of the intense moves.

I have done zumba , but not yoga or barre3. In fact, it's the first time I heard of barre 3. At the office we used to have zumba an hour before dismissal since it's part of our wellness program. However, when the HR officers is absent we skip having that until it's not being practiced anymore because it would only have very few participants. We also did walking which turned out to be jogging at the boulevard at the back of our office place. Now, I just do my own exercise at home on weekends.

walking is easy and free. here's what barre3 is like at trinoma
Class Style: It is a mind and body program that combines isometric holds, dynamic movement and recovery stretches. This comes in a group fitness class or in a one-on-one session with our highly-trained instructor.

I've done a bit of yoga and Zumba. I've belonged to many gyms, but not for years, because I prefer walking. However, I will join a gym in Florida with my sister-in-law. Just be careful not to overdo anything if you're out of shape.

when we had the reunion last 2012, a classmate showed us some zumba moves. we followed what she was doing. i guessed many of us had low back pains because we cannot bend our torso and dance fast, where our arms should be in synchrony with the movement of our (dancing) feet. hahahaha!

when i watched a zumba session yesterday, not everyone was following the moves properly. some were not even in proper attire. i guess what's important is to move, sweat and raise the heart rate.

i know a lot of people just follow videos on youtube, but i would rather be taught so i know i'm doing it correctly. of those 3, the zumba class i went to and watched for the first time was the cheapest and easiest, even if i have 2 left feet.

@hereandthere Yeah, like what happened one day. The President of the Foundation we have told me I should join them in a dance presentation, the steps are okay but after I practice it alone in my room. It took a lot of my strength and I'm running out of breath.
