Have you ever felt depressed?. Nothing goes your way and you just decide to stop trying?. How did you overcome this?. People often recommend to find someone to talk to, but what do you do if you don't want to talk to anybody. What have you done to keep you motivated?

I get something done that I know I can get done, like vacuuming, practicing guitar, laundry, or dishes. Then I listen to some sad music, so I know I'm not alone.

Music is also a good anti-depression. But I prefer more upbeat sounds from the oldies like "Downtown". What kind of selections do you listen to?

I find physical exercise a good way to get rid of the blues when they strike. Actually any physical activities to redirect the focus of our mind will do.

Agreed. All sorts of "happy chemicals" are released in our brain and bodies when we exercise.

@ukkayb _Motivation is overrated. Waiting for it is one form of procrastination. Get out of the "thinking" zone and into the "action" zone as soon as possible. I'm sure you've heard about the "5 second rule" by Mel Robbins? Look it up on you tube.

I've tried doing exercises here and there. I agree doing exercise and then taking a nice shower does help. My main problem is to stay motivated long enough to develop a ritual.

Quitting is not on my option list. I might rest a bit and then try again. Nothing comes easy but quitting is not a solution.

When I'm feeling down I try to help someone else who needs it. That's the way to help others and make me feel better in the process which is a win/win. =)

Just talking doesn't do it for me. It helps but I need medical assistance in this area. Some people think that they can skip their meds and just live a "free" life. . . yeah I'm not one of them. I've been taking my anti-depressant religiously every night before bed for years and it seems to have just stopped working. I've just started taking a new one which will hopefully work better and kick-start the neurotransmitters in my brain. Stay tuned for this situation!

I guess that this is something that happens to many of us. Do what you love most. For me listening to music and meeting someone that I secretly admire keeps me motivated.

Yes, everytime. But overcoming it? The question is, where are you specifically depressed? "Quitters never win" but applying to bad habit, I think "to move forward, sometimes you must let go"

At one time or another yes. I just strive to be busy so both my mind and body are occupied.

I was depressed before when I found out my ex-husband was heating on me and during the divorce. I surrounded myself with positive people and I acknowledge that I do need help. Also praying helps me a lot. I would just give a good cry and surrender it all to the Lord. After that I'll feel better and ready to face the challenges.

Yeah well then you need to dig motivation from inside you. Get up, explore yourself and dig your hobbies. Push yourself to do something new. It helps.

Yes I think everybody felt this way at least once. Try tendonitis hobbies or read or take a walk sometimes all you need is a clear head so you can realize what's going on.
