What Would You Do if a Member Messaged You Asking for Help Finding an Internet Job?

I am not sure if this is a violation of the guidelines or if I am just being too picky. It seems spamish since I don't know this person except for one comment they made on one of my posts. Would you report this to @GoAskAlice or just ignore it? I am sure I have never given any indication I am an employment agency or that I have Internet job connections.

I asked about this kind of messages, it's not a violation, unless the users becomes stalking. Ignore the request.

I think you already got the answer, I too would ignore it unless the person sends more messages then I'd tell Admin about it.

I agree with you @BelleStarr but you could simply delete it and not worry about it unless they persist.

I probably would report it right away, although I see it is not necessarily a violation. I had someone who wanted me to sponsor him to come to the US and help him find a job. It was stalking, I blocked and reported him. He is still here, but I do not deal with him.

It's sad that members feel cheeky enough to make this kind of approach, whether it's a violation or not.

I found it strangely disturbing which is why I asked. I guess it isn't a violation but it is weird none the less.

@BelleStarr It's sad that some people are desperate enough they will explore every avenue.

If it's only happened the once I think I'd just ignore it. It seems a bit strange. I wonder if they've asked others.

You are not alone. I received plenty of messages coming from members here and I just told them to be active here and they will earn. And I don't think it is a violation unless they ask you in the comment section. It is better to tell them nicely too or ignore them.

I would just ignore it. No harm done, just asking. You don't have to answer the person either.

No but why would someone ask a complete stranger to help them find Internet jobs? I don't get it.

@BelleStarr Perhaps wanted to know if you had any pointers or tips. I have shared with other members if they asked what I used to earn. But with ones I speak to regularly. Though, I was recently asked if I could purchase a membership for someone if they paid me via PayPal since they needed a verified PayPal account. I don't even communicate with this person at all, if I do once or twice. Now that was a strange encounter!

@BelleStarr there will always be people who join sites specifically to abuse the private message feature.

I wanted to ask Alice if it was a violation if it isn't then no problem. I never look for an argument but I think new members need to know what is appropriate.

Strangest thing I ever heard. We don't really know what everyone does or the jobs they have . Certainly ignore this.

That was my first thought but it just caught me off guard why would someone message me and ask me to help them find work?

Sometimes the messages are on topic. Sometimes they ask stuff out of the blue, and disconnected. Anyway, what online jobs do you know?
