Final Leaves of the Fall are Gone

Finally, we have all the oak leaves removed from our front yard. Jay went out yesterday and used a leaf-blower to get rid of the last covering of leaves. I usually like to help, but we only have one leaf-blower and it took him about 30 minutes to get it done. We've lived in this home for five years now and we have never had this problem before. Our yard has always been cleared off, by the end of October. The weather this fall has been totally different!

I probably still have 1/3 to 1/2 of the leaves left on the trees...probably be picking them up with the mower until it snows

@JolietJake We will need one more lawn mowing, before the snow falls. Usually, those leaves are down on the ground, by the end of November:(

@kobesbuddy The tops of the trees are bare enough that I noticed three squirrel nests in them right behind the house yesterday

I hear ya! We had two fall cleanups by our lawn service, yet there are still trees with leaves on them. Oh, well. We are out of here one week from Monday.

@kobesbuddy I have mixed emotions. I'm going to miss all the kids and my precious Doodles. Every year it gets worse. But I do enjoy it so much down there. If the newlyweds have a baby, we will fly home to visit them a couple of times next year or whenever.

@DianneN Flying makes visiting so much simpler. We'd like to visit grandson Nate and Shauni in San Diego, but unsure what to do with Kobe.

that is a good thing you finally removed the leaves, that leaf-blower is really a dependable tool.

@ilocosboy I really like doing the leaves, with a lawn rake. We pile them up and then Jay moves them into the woods, with the leaf-blower.

Glad that he was able to get it done. It's been a pretty nice day, the sun was out for a while.

I'm glad it was an easy task to get done! Thankfully we don't have to worry about leaf removal. We are bordering some nature parks, so as close to nature as we can be, we are. :)

@kobesbuddy Nice! I move the ones around the outside patio tables / swing set. Then let everything else be as it is. We do have a portion of the yard left untouched for a bee habitat / safe zone.

Most of the trees outside of my rear window are evergreens, but if I peek past them, I see that our leaved-trees are also bare now.

Usually, our temperatures in Michigan don't vacillate from hot to cold, like this year. One day it would be 85 degrees, two days later it was down to 30 degrees. This has gone on for months now. Mother nature got thrown into a tizzy, over this wide swing! I have spring flowers popping through the soil, in our side yard
