What's For Lunch????

United States
November 26, 2017 11:52am CST
After a fairly decent nights sleep, my early morning coffee and breakfast it seems another day is flying by. It's lunch time here and now I'm playing the what's for lunch game. Even though have enough choices nothing seems to entice me. I'm hungry but not starving and maybe that's why I'm being a bit finicky about what I want to eat. Lunch always seems to be my biggest problem every day when it comes to having something. Breakfast and Dinner are never a problem but lunch requires opening and closing the refrigerator or pantry doors a million times before a decision is made. Sometimes I feel like my kids when they were young and would open the refrigerator a million times and I'd yell at them that nothing new was in there since they last looked. Guess it's time to figure out what to have.

I am a little bit like that too. I usually know what I am going to eat for breakfast and dinner, but lunch requires some thought. I had vegetable soup for lunch.

Being on my own I find that often I forget to feed myself. I had some rice with tomatoes and chicken nuggets early in the day and then round about 7 PM I got hungry and realized I had had only one meal so I made a frozen pizza.

We have that problem with dinner. Sometimes takes us 2 hours to figure out what to have.

@Marilynda1225 here its because my mom always works the same hours of 8-430. But my brother works all different hours day and night, so if he works day then we wait on him and he doesnt always want what we do and so sometimes we make / order seperate meals or we wait til we agree on something. Plus even then, it all depends what the proces at the store are that day.

That is one reason why I usually skip lunch - I have an early dinner anyway.

Lunch does require some thinking unlike breakfast and dinner. Lunch for me would be some fish fillet and chicken in tomato sauce with carrots and potatoes.

I made up a fruit salad and put it into a big glass container in the fridge, just for such dilemmas like you're having!

@Marilynda1225 I usually make up enough for a few days, I find that it lasts longer in the glass bowls in the fridge not the plastic ones. And then halfway thru the week I make another bowl up.

I like fruit salad and wouldn't have thought to keep it handy for days like this

Breakfast is an easy meal, lunch is very light all the time, a mixed salad in summer and a soup of a dish of pasta in winter. Not a big problem.

@Marilynda1225 It's the second very cold day today, at least a good soup warms up the body for a bit of time.

We mostly have toasted sandwiches or at least Vince does - usually flavoured tuna of some kind. I often just have a Cup-A-Soup (from a packet) or yoghurt.

I probably should keep some of those Cup-A-Soup handy for the days when I'm looking for something.

@Marilynda1225 I like the cream ones and now I've taken to adding a small can of corn sometimes.

I am a very picky eater so every meal is a chore. Yea my kids would do that too, stand there for 10 minutes just looking and never taking anything out of the refrigerator. What's up with that.
