Why are responses higher in welcoming a Newbie!!

Wonder why is it that a Newbie gets on an average 10+ responses from mylot members, just to welcome him/her!!! While there are newbies who get unnoticed since they prefer one-liners, those who come up with a decent introduction gets good amount of response...which in a way is a healthy symbol & encourages the newcomer; but on the otherside he/she faces the harsh reality when suddenly the response drops down Any as per as the psyche of old members are concerned, I feel its easy to respond a welcome message with Guideline link, since it gives a "I m senior" kind of feel ....its like 2/3 discussions above and below the welcoming message, no posts get such enthusiasm What do u say??

Maybe because we need to make them feel comfortable being here. For some members to be noticed too as well. Lol.

Well I really do want newbies gets a welcoming responds and give them some good introductory awareness about mylot which most newbies forgot checking on first after they can experience the site on their own. Did you not start like that?

We need to make them feel welcome, the site always needs new members to replace those who have fallen, " the more the merrier" A good potential newbie won't get shocked but would try to improve himself, he can also discern that it's only part of the welcome

I think the older members want to ensure that the newbies start off on the right foot.

Sometimes I go over to new users and spend time there, if I have more time than mylot has people posting.

I think most users are excited when there's someone else or someone new to comment on, I really don't comment on a lot of new users unless there's not that many post for me to comment on or if their post actually has some substance.
