Christmas Memories...

I am sure Christmas holds different memories for everyone, depending upon the year. I know I have some fun Christmas', and some very lonely and sparse ones too. If anyone knows me...they know that my favorite part of Christmas is the Christmas stocking. Since I was a little girl (and even at my age)...I still get a little giddy if I get one. I used to say that I did not care if I received 100 of them in one year...it would be alright with me! LOL However... I was thinking of past Christmas', and remembered a funny/crazy memory I had when I was in the first grade. You know kids (especially me), they can have a wild imagination at that age. So... That particular year, I had asked Santa for a Suzi Q doll. Anyone remember that doll? She was a pretty big doll, and she came with a school desk. In fact...with my height during the first grade, the doll was about the same size as me, and I was tempted to try to sit in her desk. LOL Anyway... When Christmas morning came, I was the first one up, so I went to the living room to see if Santa brought me my doll, and low and behold, he did. I was excited. I returned to my room to see if my siblings and parents were up yet, and they weren't... So I tipped toed back to the tree to look at my doll one more time. When I did...I passed the fireplace and my right shoulder brushed up against something. At that young age, it frightened me a little. I did not know if it was my dad hiding behind the fireplace to tell me get back to bed, or a burglar. My mind was running wild. I was scared to move... Then at last my imagination really went into orbit. Not sure why...but I began to think that it was this giant cockroach that was going to swallow me up, and I was convinced of it! ROFL!!! So... I slowly turned around to see how big the roach was, and to see if I could do a quick get away, before it had me for dinner!!! LOL And to my pleasant surprise...it was not a roach. I breathed such a sigh of relief!!! Actually what had happened... My shoulder hit the tip of one of the Christmas stockings, that were hanging on the mantle of the fireplace. LOL I remember how stupid and silly I felt thinking it might be a big roach; to only find that it was a Christmas stocking. Needless to say...I never told anyone about this event. I did not want my family teasing me about it, and they definitely would have never let me hear the end of it!!! Not sure why this memory came back to me, but it did, and thought it would be fun to share it. What is some memory that you have about Christmas, that you or a family member did, that was funny, fun, or just plain stupid like me?

When we were kids we used to banged the cover of our pans to celebrate. We also have this bamboo canonball to make loud explosion. That was dangerous but at that time in our place, no fyrotechnics are available
