This is the giant Christmas tree situated in the front of the church patio ofCandoncity.
Ijust interviewed the owner, financier and designer of the said Christmas tree. Here are some facts about this:
-- it stands 70 feet including the base and thestar.
-- it is being put every year for10 years.
-- there's only person who finance and design the tree.
-- there are 7 person who are hired to put up the tree since November 2.
-- it is the tallest in region 1, Philippines
-- the owner didn't devulge the amount used.
Tonight, this tree will light in this universe.

I'm in the right place at the right time. When I went to the area the designer and maker was there doing the finishing touches.

That looks beautiful. However it makes me think that despite of high levels of poverty in the Philippines someone would think a Christmas tree is wroth spending money on, rather than the poor. I wish the tree was simple and that extra money would go to the poor. I imagine that would also be the religious point of view.

@ilocosboy the numbers don't lie. 2015 estimate is about 21%. That's pretty high. But you have it almost everywhere not only in the Philippines. My point is that if one wants to make a religious gesture why not start with charity. I'm sure a simple tree would be beautiful too and that extra money could probably be more useful for families who can't even get by.

Industrialization has been seen in Duterte administration with people are given jobs if not with financial assistance. It will take many more years if not decades before the impact is felt. Not in our lifetime but our children will feel it.

Would you imagine that the money came from one person only, he finance it and design the Christmas tree, maybe this is a sign we're not that poor after all.

The braze is metal and the designs are cardboard made like a gift wrapped in golden and blue.

@ilocosboy That should cost some money, having steel bars for its brace. I have seen lots of christmas trees around made up of recycled materials. But nothing as high as 70 feet. I am curious how it looks like when lighted.

What a tradition! That tree is huge. There is a huge tree in Cubao that's being put up annually.

That's the apprehension of the maker, he is praying no rain and no typhoon tocome.
