Why Do People Ask for Others to Pray For Them (when God "Knows Your Need before You Ask")

Peace Be with You

I think I know ... I think they're actually asking for 'something slightly-different than what they say they want,' so I think I want to remind them what they're actually asking-for (so they're not disappointed when they get that instead of 'what they think they want.) http://nextgenalpha.blogspot.com/2017/11/i-know-youre-asking-friends-for.html They actually want 'peace of mind' (so that either they can see what to do next or they can go about their regular business). No matter what treasure or -relationship or -fortunate circumstance they ask for, that peace/clarity/lightened-burden is all that the prayer really gets them.

@mythociate I know G-d is out there watching over us but every little bit helps with more praying for the person.

Not really. Well, "really"; but not to G-d. That is, G-d doesn't know 'any different' after people pray than -before they pray. The only difference prayers make is "to people who hear the prayer." Whether G-d hears it or not, the people who hear the prayer 1) believe that G-d (like some doting-grandparent-in-the-sky) hears what they ask-for & will try to grant that wish if it doesn't interfere with 'larger plans' (things others need, things that 'more people' would prefer) and 2) know that the pray-ers believe G-d hears & that they believe it strongly enough to "guarantee" that G-d will reply. But 'true destiny' (what Christians might call "G-d's plan") doesn't change!

@Hannihar does help ... how? Doesn't help G-d! Thankfully Because--if G-d relied on 'our advice' to keep this world moving--it would've dissolved back into Nothing long ago!

@mythociate I am sorry but G-d hears all and knows all. He gets to people when He can. Other people praying for someone does help.

"Seek and ye shall find - ask and it shall be given". Hence supplication and prayer.

Verse 3: "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you q

I have realized lately that God is the true and only source of peace. The way to get that peace is to seek Him first and ask for burdens to be lifted and peace to take over. God's love for us is amazing!

So isn't "asking others to pray to Him for you" the same as 'denying His ability to know your prayer'?
