My, my, it was 1963 when Jim Nabors joined the Andy Griffith Show as Gomer Pyle. I LOVED that show as a kid!! It was a simpler time wasn't it?... TV was not recordable and one looked forward to their favorite shows and rushed home to view as a family...Classics like the Ed Sullivan show , Bonanza, Beverly Hillbillies, just to name a few. - if you missed it you missed it! . No Vcr's ( yes, those are gone too! ) , no cell phones or Video games. Nothing like spending a summer or weekend day outside building a fort with your buddies or a day in the park . Things are so different now . Rest In Peace Mr Nabors, you will be fondly remembered by many of us !!

When Jim played the role of Gomer Pyle U S M C I was impressed with his heart of gold toward children and his amazing singing voice. Jim and the late Mel Tillis will be remembered for their acting and singing talents. Gomer Pyle was one of my favorite shows on television.
