NaNoWriMo Challenge Winner

Today is the last day of the challenge, and as I promised before I left, I have spent the day writing. It was a very good way to end this month long challenge with a final total of 85,051 words. The book took some twists and turns, even I wasn't expecting this afternoon. New Horizon's still has a long ways to go before it's finished, but even I'm enjoying this roller coaster ride to the final page. How was your day? Thanks for reading.

Wow, that's great. I've always wanted to write a book, but I can't seem to commit to it.

It does take commitment to write one.

@just4him The snow kept most people at home, at least it was a quiet day.

@LadyDuck I'm glad they stayed home and there weren't any accidents that happen when people go out in the snow. I love quiet days.

You did well. What happens afterwards? A huge rewrite or let it sit and stew for a bit?

Usually I let it sit, I have two unfinished NaNo winners. I don't want to do that with this one. It's very interesting and I want to see how it ends. I figure I'm only about half finished with it at the moment. Once I finish the first draft, then I'll let it sit and stew. Then when I get back to it to start the revision process I can see where all the problems are a lot better than going right after them right away.

@just4him That's cool that you beat up your Inner Critic and got through to the finish line. I have three short stories over here that are started....

@sallypup That's great. I just did my next goals with what's after WriMo, which is to get to 150K by February. Since I'm already at 85K, that shouldn't be too difficult, and I'm giving myself more time to accomplish it. I was going to put the goal at 175K but the book might not be that long, so I'm being conservative.

Yes, so maybe I should up it for next year's challenge to say 90K. What do you think?

@just4him I think that's a wise increment to challenge yourself :-)

I hope so. This rough draft will need some sanding when it's finished to make it smooth and polished.

Yesterday was pretty good. Just long and some customers I would of rather not had to deal with.

National Novel Writer's Month. Or NaNoWriMo. Every November there is a 50K challenge to write a book in 30 days. I did that and more.
