While using crockery for our food, we generally use round plates. However, now a days there are plates which have square shape and they look good. Given the choice, would you like to buy square shape crockery or you are happy with round shape plates. Image courtesy - Google

It's what's on the plate that matters most to me seriously we have round and square sets that we use alternately so I don't really mind how the women of the house sets the table.

It is interesting to know that you have plates of both the shapes and you enjoy eating on both kinds of plates. It is women of the house who decide what to use and when, you just enjoy eating.

We have some of each too. I've even had meals in restaurants on triangular plates.

Yes, I like to use square shaped plates. I think square shaped plates look more beautiful than the round shaped plates. I have three square shaped plates at home.

Square shaped plates give us a different kind of feeling, as we have been using round plates for ages. It is good to hear that you have some square plates and you use it, as and when required.

Deepu, there is a reason those plates are round. The place occupied is less. There is room to place forks, spoons, and knives, and water glass. Now with square dishes, the distance increases, which means we would need longer tables. Even in buffets, when you hold a round plate, risk of anything falling from it is less because the curve prevents it, like on the roads on incline we have road banking. I think it is just a fad.

Yes, you have point that a round plate would take slightly less space and would be convenient to use. May be for sake of change someone introduced square shaped plates and people started using it.

People have been using round-shaped mass-produced plates for ages that it will be quite difficult to introduce square-shaped plates. Nevertheless, fancy places might taje upon this chances to alleviate their appeals by using them. I myself have been oogling this nice set of black square plates, but my mom are against the idea. She said the ones we have is still usable.

Yes, food must be delicious, irrespective of shape of the plate, I am in agreement with you on this point. For the sake of change square plate would look good then the round one, which we frequently use. PS - Hope you are doing well.

I have different plates, rounds, square, rectangular and oval. It depends what I serve. If I serve a whole fish, I use an oval shape. Square plates are nice to serve appetizers.

We already have it and we've been using it for quite a long time now. Ours is color orange. We also have round ones which we alternate from time to time and those nice sets too that is reserved for special occasions. I really don't have a preference for any particular kind or shape of plates, anything will do.

If I was to replace all my dishes with new ones I would love some of these square dishes. However most my dishes are used and don’t match. If I mixed circle with square they wouldnt stack in the cupboard right.
