I am afraid my dad's days may be numbered

He went back to the doctor this morning for a post op check up. I am not sure what is making the doctor suspect there is more going on, as I was not there but he is suspecting there might be lymph node involvement. He wants to come in next week for another scan..All of these problems just seemed to creep up..he was fine in June. This is certainly a discouraging development... Any recommendations?

I am so sorry. It's possible he is simply being overly cautious.

@snowy22315 I know, but at some point hope is all we have when facing the unknown.

It is hard not to..I mean the doctor would not have suggested this if he didn't have a serious concern..and my dad does not want any more surgery..I hope he changes his mind..if he would benefit from it.

He's not in pain..just not in the best frame of mind, which is understandable.

If he was fine in June and now they're finding something serious then I'd say it's time to find another doctor, it would seem to me that the doctor should have noticed something in June.

The doctor thinks he has swollen lymph nodes and just had some surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.

@snowy22315 if the tumor is removed surgically, did you subject that to a histopath or biopsy so you will be sure if it is benign or malignant?

Just be sure he does as the doctor asks.

I wish I knew what to tell you. When it comes to cancer, there just is nothing certain. My father is 99 and in a nursing home. He has multiple problems but keeps on ticking, needless to say this can't go on forever. But cancer, that's a wole different animal. I am so very sorry your dad is going through this.

Do not feel down, wait until you have the result of the scan, then you can decide if a second opinion is needed.

Could be anything. A blocked artery maybe? Dont give up and if you are a praying woman, drop an extra prayer for your dad.
