What To Do With Cigarette Money

Its been 13 months since Tony smoked his last cigarette, Last year I told him to save the money he would have spent and buy something he wants. Well he wanted the new boat motor and had planned to buy it this month but last night he said " I need a truck so I think I will look around for a truck before fixing the boat." Since new was out of the question we were looking at the for sale by owner type. On the way to work today, as a landlady, Tony seen several all on the same strip going into town. He looked at two, one nice 1992 Chevrolet but the guy was busy and could not let him take a drive, the next was a 2001 Ford ranger the lady was at work but would meet us around 4:30, okay deal. I went to work, collected money, looked at repairs needed t be done, paid a few bills and went to meet the lady about the truck. Tony drove it and then done the "or best offer" thing and he got it $600 cheaper. Yes he bought a truck for $2,600 its a 5 speed 2001 Ford Ranger and its clean and has been kept up, has a few scratches but that is all. New tires too. Now that is how he spent his cigarette money and now I wont worry about breaking down in his old truck, he will sell it later. That was my day, how was yours?

Well what a great deal. It is certainly worth it after saving plenty of money. My day yesterday was great too. I had inherited land from my dad. It was land on which he had been born and by now it was just land no houses and overgrown. Here in Latvia on such land we have to pay taxes and I cannot afford to have any extra payments. So a company was interested in this land. It was divided between me and my dad's cousin who is now in his 80s. Finally things got settled and yesterday the company agreed on price and now before Christmas I will have some much needed additional money coming into my account. It will make it much easier having to wait on selling the house and all else. The first think I did was thank the Lord.

@andriaperry I'll still need plenty more but the first heavy rock has rolled off my shoulders and now it is on to self-publishing my e-book of poems and with the Lord's guidance it is onwards and upwards from there.

That is so great! I think it would shock people to know what they could buy if they put their money for smoking away for later.

You all get a truck for $2600 bucks? That is about 170000 INR!!! Not in India...definitely not...certainly not 2001 model.

It takes a lot of patience to save all that money. I'm not sure if I wouldn't be tempted to spend them sooner.

If I calculated how much I saved since I stopped smoking I could possibly buy a new house. I stopped in 1971 soon after I started going out with my husband.
